Purchasing a camera

Hi can anyone help?.We are staying Kowloon area and want to purchase a DSLR camera. We have never been to HK before so completely in the dark as to where to purchase without being ripped off.

Any names of specific shops would be especially grateful. Thank you.

First and foremost, never go to those flashy stores at Tsim Sha Tsui. Never.

My suggestion is to go to some of the bigger chain stores, such as Fortress or Broadway. Also Wing Shing is recommended.

Also dcfever and Tin Cheung in SIMCity in Mong Kok. Before buying, you can also check with http://www.price.com.hk so that you have a possible range of a certain product.

I would go with Cam2 or DCFever, both are reputable and probably slightly cheaper than the big chains.

Make sure you know the prices at home as well as Hong Kong is not always cheaper, and make sure warranty covers your home country.

If you're into Canon, check out the showroom at 20/F iSquare. They have all the latest models there with an assortment of lenses. You're free to mess about with them to your heart's content.

I get my stuff from DCFever which is cheaper (several hundred $HK) than the main chains like Broadway.
