We usually hit the 2nd Street Market in Dayton for a lunch break while bicyling the trails nearby, There are so many interesting choices with ethnic diversity. Salads, sandwiches, bakery and ice cream. The Market is a great choice if you are traveling with a group- everyone can get what they like and yet all eat together. Many craft booths for browsing.

The market is only open three days each week, but if you go to Dayton and don't hit the market, you are missing best of Dayton. It is owned and operated by 5 Rivers Metroparks. The vendors are wonderful and the prices are very reasonable. We have visited like markets in Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo and Second Street is not the largest but it is the best.

A little bit of Faneuil Hall in Dayton, OH! Exotic foods, high quality crafts, and personable vendors make this a fun-filled stop for the whole family.

I love coming to this market! I can get fresh fruits and veggies, bread that was baked that morning, a dozen roses for $10, and gifts for darn near anyone. On Saturdays there are lots of samples (the dips are to die for). If you're still hungry, grab lunch from one of the 8+ food vendors. My favorite is a gyro.

My husband and I visited the Market for lunch on Thursday. We were pleasantly surprised at all the delicious dining options. We especially loved the crepes at Crepe Boheme. We enjoyed the berry crepe so much that we also carried out another berry crepe and the mozzarelli crepe for dinner. We paired with fresh corn and veggies from the farmers' stand.

The breads, pretzel, flowers, and local farm products were also delicious. A definite fun destination in Dayton.

Traveler’s tip: Visit a city market.

During international and national travel, we always include a visit to the various markets of cities which we visit.

One has not experienced Ohio or Dayton until one visits the various city markets.

Today is a visit to Second Street Market during the Christmas season, and we delight to the sounds of traditional Christmas music.

My wife has carefully arranged to convert $100.00 to small bills, and she enjoys the bounty of Second Street Market.

Food- Get the NZ Meat Pies from Cheeky's or the the really good Greek.

Shops - This is a very small market in my opinion but we have enjoyed some of the local made cheeses and breads and have found a few great little gifts from here.

Market is nice but very crowded and not that many vendors.
My real reason for this review is to warn people not to try to eat at Annie's sandwich stand. It's a simple stand with a few sandwiches and was the only stand with no line. That should have told me something. I ordered a corned beef and Swiss sandwich, no mayo. Twenty five minutes later, when I asked at the counter where my sandwich was, I was told it was "next." I said I've been waiting 25 minutes! The lady making the sandwich started yelling at me and I finally had to tell her to just stop yelling. After 30 minutes they finally gave me my sandwich, and lo and behold, it had mayo all over it.
I understand that she makes every sandwich to order and she can only grill 2 or 3 sandwiches at a time, but their customer service stinks and being yelled at didn't help. I brought the mayonnaise sandwich back and demanded my money back. Never again.

I go here every week! This place is so cute and has a lot to offer. It is open Thursday- Saturday and closes around 3pm. Not only can you buy produce, meats, breads but they also have places to eat. Here are my favorites; the Crepe Boheme is the best place for a dessert. Big Sky Bread has PIZZA BREAD, I get one loaf a week, I buy a little patch of cat grass every other week from the humane society and I get my veggies and eggs from KJB Farms. Bring your own bag and spend at least 2 hours to shop and have a great lunch. Parking is free and the busiest day is Saturday.

Terrific morning destination for coffee and crepes--enclosed venue for any type weather. Lovely bread, pottery, olive oil, vegetables, cheese, food vendors, and alpaca wool items; plus, flowers from The Flowerman!, of course! Jazz combo playing--just delightful!
