News that Days of our Lives is moving to Peacock is major for those who crave their daily dose of Salem drama.

The long-running soap opera, which follows the chaotic lives of close-knit residents in the fictional Illinois city of Salem, premiered on NBC in 1965. That means it will be ending a 57-year run on broadcast television when it streams exclusively on Peacock beginning September 12. Shocked about the move? Confused? You’re not alone. The cast of Days of Our Lives had mixed reactions to the news, too.

If you’re one of many fans wondering how to watch Days of our Lives on Peacock, what time new episodes will air, which Peacock plan you need to watch Days of our Lives, or why the show is leaving broadcast, we’ve got you covered. Read on to find out how to ensure Days of our Lives remains a part of your life.

When does Days of our Lives Move to Peacock? And Why is Days of our Lives Leaving Broadcast TV?

Days of our Lives will move from NBC broadcast television to the NBCUniversal-owned streaming service, Peacock, starting Monday, September 12, 2022 (that’s today!) New weekly episodes will join the platform’s existing Days of our Lives library, which includes more than 230 episodes from Seasons 56 and 57. (Note: The seven episodes from Season 56 are set to expire within the next 8 days.)

According to Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, the show’s popularity on Peacock is one of the reasons it’s making the exclusive move to streaming. “With a large percentage of the Days of our Lives audience already watching digitally, this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fanbase on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers,” Lazarus told The New York Times in August.

In addition to housing hundreds of the soap’s 14,000+ episodes, Peacock is also home to two original Days spinoffs: Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem and Days of our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas.
