Attica, N.Y. -- Prison escapee David Sweat was caught in a sex act with a woman during visiting hours at Attica Correctional Facility earlier this month.
Sweat, 37, was in the visiting area for Attica's Special Housing Unit, where he is being held in solitary confinement, according to the New York Post. A corrections officer spotted him fondling himself through his pants on March 8.
He was visiting with his girlfriend, Frances Malanik, who then reached through a window in a metal partition and began touching Sweat, the Post said.
Officers immediately ended the visit and escorted Malanik out of the prison. They took Sweat back to his cell.
Sweat was hit with disciplinary charges over the incident and had his visiting privileges revoked for 60 days, the Post said.
Malanik began writing to Sweat after his escape from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora in 2015. She later began visiting him and eventually moved to Ovid to be closer to him.
Last year, Malanik and Sweat hatched a plot to win some extra privileges from prison officials, The New York Times reported. In exchange for detailing how he would escape from Five Points Correctional, where he was being held, Sweat wanted an extra visit each week, the ability to receive food packages and the chance to take photos with Malanik and her 6-year-old daughter.
Malanik relayed the message to authorities and officers did meet with Sweat. But instead of granting him the privileges, they transferred him to solitary in Attica.
Sweat and another inmate, Richard Matt, escaped Dannemora with the help of a prison employee, Joyce Mitchell. They spent several weeks on the run.
Matt was shot and killed June 26, 2015 and police caught Sweat shortly thereafter.
