David Austin Price

David Austin Price, at 75 years, passed away February 29 at his home in Naples, FL. He was born on June 30, 1948, on a beautiful farm in Rachel, WV, to Arch and Roberta Price. He is survived by his loving wife Cecelia (Gallucci) Price, his daughters Christie Holmes and Aimee Price, and his grandchildren, Eric Holmes, Megan Holmes, and Sarah Holmes. He is preceded in death by his parents Arch and Roberta, and his brother John R Price.
David graduated from Farmington HS as Valedictorian and from West Virginia University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He went on to have an extremely successful career with the Federal Highway Administration. He was known for his contributions to building highways and bridges, training young engineers through seminars nationwide, and working with Senators on Capitol Hill to help finance highway and road disasters. He was also involved with Homeland Security initiatives after 9/11.
David kindheartedly volunteered his time and skills to Garrett County Mentors, to young archers, and to committees in every community in which he lived.
David had a passion for the great outdoors where he loved to hunt, hike, take photos, and just spend time soaking up the peace and serenity that nature provides. He also enjoyed spending time with the Price family and lifelong friends on West Virginia hunting trips. He loved writing humanistic stories about the outdoors. Thirteen of these articles were published in national and state outdoor magazines. He loved playing tennis and working out in the gym, but his greatest love was his family and friends. David spent many Sundays with the Gallucci family, who also reside in sunny Florida. In addition, he was surrounded by a large community of close friends in Stonebridge where he had resided for the last 10 years. He was the most thoughtful and giving individual who enjoyed real connection with those around him. He was surrounded by love because he gave so much love to others! David had a heart of gold and never-ending positive attitude. He lived life to its fullest with his gentle spirit and a twinkle in his eyes! He will always be remembered fondly for these traits.
A celebration of life will be held at Stonebridge Country Club in Naples, FL, on March 9, from 11:00am to 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Naples AVOW Hospice or the American Cancer Society. A celebration of life will be held in West Virginia at a later date.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
