The release of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update has brought new attention, new features, and a few new bugs to the game. However, one player wasn't content with the glitches that they encountered naturally in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and decided to create their own glitches in a room inspired by The Matrix franchise.

With a fourth entry in The Matrix film series on the horizon, fans may be inclined to turn their gaze back to this iconic franchise. However, many may find that the glowing green text scrawls, leather and dark sunglasses, and imagery of a world coming undone that is synonymous with The Matrix never truly left them.

Redditor drdomiknows drew on the iconic visuals of The Matrix to create a room patterned after the franchise. This isn't the first an Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has created a tribute on their island, but it may be one of the most recognizable. Drdomiknows described this room as a glitch in the Matrix room, a description that seems very fitting for a room that has been largely consumed by smooth black surfaces decorated with strings of glowing green glyphs.

The room appears to be split between two design sensibilities: one wall and part of the floor is modeled after traditional Japanese room design, complete with tatami mats, a low table, sushi laid out, and what looks like a sliding door, while the rest of the room appears to be disintegrating into coding.

This divided design philosophy fits well with the premise of The Matrix that the world humanity knows is a simulation, and that some people can learn to perceive the code behind the simulation and bend it to their will. In the movies, most of those people are identified by their dark sunglasses and leather coats, which drdomiknows's character is also shown wearing.

As of writing, it appears that other fans are quite taken with drdomiknows' tribute to The Matrix. Several users expressed their love for the design and the code for the custom assets used was soon shared in the comments. Another user shared that they had also created a room inspired by The Matrix, though they reported that drdomiknows' room looked cooler. A third user shared a tip for how drdomiknows and other fans of The Matrix could get more varied designs on the walls: putting custom designs on the game's Glow-In-The-Dark Stickers.
