Animal Crossing New Horizons: 2022 Events Guide

A new year has dawned, which means another year to look forward to playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This guide will give you a month-by-month look at what's to come in 2022, including Fishing Tourney and Bug Off dates, as well as other events you won't want to miss.

2022 is here, a whole new year! What is there to look forward to in Animal Crossing: New Horizons this year? There’s plenty going on every month, whether there’s a Fishing Tourney or a Bug Off, or seasonal items to collect. This guide will help you plan your year and keep track of what’s to come.

Events from both the North and South Hemisphere will be included. If an event is exclusive to a hemisphere, it will be noted.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on Nintendo Switch. Also available is Happy Home Paradise, the expansion to New Horizons.

JANUARY

The first month of the year goes off with a bang with the New Year’s Countdown at midnight. January also sees the first Fishing Tourney of the year, as well as a Bug Off in the south. The Festive Season ends on the 6th.

FEBRUARY

At the very start of February, it’s the celebration of the Lunar New Year. This month also sees Valentine’s Day, as well as the Festivale. In the north, the snow will finally melt on the 25th. The south will have their final Bug Off until later in the year.

MARCH

The first month of spring in the north, while the first month of fall in the south. Unfortunately, not a lot is happening this month in either hemisphere, at least in terms of any events. There are a few special celebrations taking place though. This includes Hinamatsuri, Shamrock Day, and Pi Day. You can buy special items related to these celebrations from Nook Shopping.

APRIL

A lot is happening in April. The north enjoys the gorgeous cherry blossoms for the first third of the month. Meanwhile, the south will have maple leaves in the second half. There’s another Fishing Tourney to watch out for. There’s also Bunny Day and Nature Day to celebrate.

JUNE

It’s June, which means Wedding Season in both hemispheres, while the north enjoys its first Bug Off of the year. If your island is based in the Southern Hemisphere, snow will arrive and settle on the ground on the 10th. Meanwhile, in the north, summer shells will appear on the beaches.

AUGUST

Celebrate the last month of summer/winter (depending on the hemisphere) with weekly Fireworks Shows. You get four chances to enjoy these marvelous light displays, so catch them while you can. There’s another Bug Off for the north, too. In the Southern Hemisphere, the snow will melt later this month (it should be the 25th).

SEPTEMBER

Another quiet month, except the north will have its last Bug Off of the year. Also in the north, you can start collecting acorns and pine cones, which you can gather until December 10th.

It’s Mushroom Season for the north, as well as the appearance of maple leaves in the second half. Meanwhile, the south gets their first Bug Off in a while. There’s also Turkey Day to look forward to.

DECEMBER

The final month of the year, when you count down the days to the new year. This is certainly a festive month, with the Festive Season starting on the 15th, with cedar trees decorated with lights that drop Ornaments. Don’t forget Toy Day on the 24th, and prepare for the New Year’s Countdown on the last day. The snow arrives in the north on the 11th. Meanwhile, summer shells appear in the south.

That sums up what to expect in 2022. There’s something in every month to look forward to. Even if there’s not many events going on, there’s always something to keep you busy. There’s fish, bugs, and sea creatures to catch, seasonal items to buy, and birthdays to celebrate. There’s never a dull day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and 2022 will be no different.
