Jack Laugher and Dan Goodfellow seal second title for Great Britain at Diving World Cup
On Day 2 of the Diving World Cup, the Brits dominated the men's 3m synchro, while Canada's Meaghan Benfeito and Caeli McKay secured their place at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 with victory in the women’s 10m synchro.

Two gold in two days for Great Britain
Jack Laugher and Dan Goodfellow dominated the men’s 3m synchro to make it two gold medals in two days for Great Britain at the Diving World Cup in Tokyo, Japan.
Following Tom Daley and Matty Lee’s 10m synchro victory yesterday (1 May), 2019 world silver medallists Laugher and Goodfellow, who have already qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games which will be held from 23 July to 8 August 2021, finished top with 440.94 points.
Their only mistake came in the fifth of six dives, when Goodfellow made a short entry.
German pair Patrick Hausding and Lars Rudiger (433.92) booked their ticket to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 in second place, as did third-placed Russia Olympic Committee (ROC) athletes Nikita Shleikher and Evgenii Kuznetsov (415.86).
The USA (Andrew Capobianco/Mike Hixon) and Italy (Giovanni Tocci/Lorenzo Marsaglia), fourth and fifth-placed respectively, also secured Olympic qualifying berths. Already-qualified Mexico, China and Japan complete the line-up for the Olympics later this year.
Comfortable Canadians
Earlier in the day, Meaghan Benfeito and Caeli McKay secured their place at the Olympics with victory in the women’s 10m synchro.
The Canadian pair comfortably sealed top spot with 305.94 points.
Olympic qualification spots were also won by second-placed Britain divers Lois Toulson and Eden Cheng (302.88), as well as German duo Christina Wassen and Tina Punzel (292.86) in third.
With Japan, China and the USA having already qualified for the Olympics, the final place at Tokyo 2020 went to fifth-placed Mexicans Alejandra Orozco and Gabriela Agundez (286.56). They finished just 0.30 ahead of ROC pair Iuliia Timoshinina and Ekaterina Beliaeva, who miss out on Olympic qualification.
