After the answer is filed, the Court will send out scheduling orders or a trial setting notice. Normal motion docket is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hearings must be scheduled after discussion with the other side.

Yes. Virtual hearings are set on Wednesday and Thursday. The court clerk will let the setting party know if the hearing is remote or in person. If the setting party does not want an in-person hearing, they can set their hearing on a remote docket day.

All documents you plan on presenting as evidence for your hearing must be filed at least three days before any hearing. Participants are allowed to screen share during the hearing to show their evidence.

Yes. Parties may request a virtual hearing by filing a formal motion showing good cause at least 48 hours before the hearing. Virtual and telephone hearings will be set on Wednesdays or other pre-approved days by the Judge and arranged through the court coordinator.

The court holds hearings on Mondays. Friday settings are reserved for cases that are subject to trial. The court clerk can set hearings up to one hour long. If more than one hour is needed, parties need permission from the judge. All parties must discuss setting a hearing with the other party before scheduling the hearing.

A case is immediately placed on the trial docket when an answer is filed. The initial setting is selected based on the facts of the case in the initial petition.  

If you want to have an issue heard on the court’s motion docket, you must contact the Chief Clerk of the Court Terri Kilgore at (214) 653-7546. Motions to be considered without an oral hearing by agreement of the parties should be set a motion for submission at 8 a.m. Monday–Thursday.  

Motions that require an oral hearing will be scheduled depending on the type of hearing.

• Discovery motions are heard at 8:30 a.m. on Mondays or as otherwise scheduled by the court.
• All other motions are heard Monday–Friday 8:30a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with 30 minutes per case.
