But Sting and Trudie Styler proved they know how to keep the spark alive in their long-term romance, as they enjoyed a romantic dinner date in London on Wednesday night.

The music legend, 66, rocked some funky round-frame shades as he joined an effortlessly elegant Trudie, 63, at the lavish eatery Chiltern Firehouse.

Sting displayed his quirky sense of dressing, donning a navy cardigan with a checked scarf knotted around his neck.

Meanwhile, Trudie showed off her age-defying beauty as she arrived at the celebrity hotspot in a scarlet coat and black poloneck.

Styling her golden hair in perfectly coiffed waves, the actress and producer framed her youthful features with minimal make-up.

The couple have been famously open about maintaining the spark in their long-standing relationship. 

Much to the embarrassment of their four children, the yoga fanatics, who married in 1992, have infamously suggested they enjoy tantric sex lasting several hours, swingers parties and strip clubs.

The singer made headlines around the world when said that he and Miss Styler had sex for several hours back in 1990.

He has since rowed back on the comment but has said that there was some truth to it.

In 2011 Trudie said her husband's original claim about their love life was just a drunken boast.

'Do you know who I blame for that?' she said. 'Bob Geldof. Him and Sting had gone to do an interview with a rock journalist, and the interview turned into a drinking session  

Sting also admitted he loves 'dressing up' his wife in the bedroom.

In a frank and occasionally crude interview, the singer said: 'When we see each other, it's romance. I don't think pedestrian sex is very interesting.

And when asked the most romantic thing they have ever done for each other, Sting replied: 'Romantic? We like tawdry.'

The couple have four children, Mickey, 33, Jake, 32, Coco, 27, and Giacomo, 21, while Sting has daughter Kate, 35, and son Joe, 40, from his first marriage, to actress Frances Tomelty.
