Three massive, complex fires larger than 15,000 acres are roaring through the California wilderness near the Oregon border, sending a train of unhealthy air down into the Bay Area.

So where are the wildfires burning exactly? How big are they, and are they contained yet?

The live map below shows all the major wildfires burning through California, based on data from the federal Wildland Fire Interagency Geospatial Service. Click on the name of a fire listed in blue to jump to its location. You can then click on the map to get more details. Toggle between complex fires (meaning more than one fire are burning in an area), and fire incidents by clicking on the tab.

Poor air quality is expected to persist in the Bay Area through Thursday.

Fire incidents that are smaller than 250 acres are filtered out of the map, unless they are a part of a larger complex fire. Some new or very small fires may not have complete information yet, so check back for updates. Fires that have been flagged as 100% contained are filtered out.

Note: map adjusted to filter out individual fire incidents within complex fires that report 100% containment.
