Cox.net Email Transitioning to Yahoo

Details

To ensure you have the best email experience, we’re transitioning your cox.net email service and associated support to Yahoo Mail.

  • You’ll keep your current email address, messages, folders, calendar, and contacts.
  • Yahoo Mail will become your new email provider and Cox will no longer manage or support email services after the transition.
  • This only impacts your cox.net email address. None of your other Cox services will be impacted.

Why Yahoo?

We selected Yahoo Mail to continue your service because they’re a trusted provider who will continue to offer advanced support and enhanced protection for your email account, similar to what you’ve had with Cox.

Things You’ll Need to Get Started

Before you start the migration, ensure you have the following items.

  • Your full email address including @cox.net.
  • Your existing Cox email password.

Note: If you do not remember your Password, go to the Cox email login page and click Forgot Password.

When is it Time to Complete the Move

Depending on how you access your email, when it is time to move you email to Yahoo, you will notice one of the following scenarios.

  • If you access your email through webmail, then you'll be redirected to a page with details to complete the transition.
  • If you access your email through a third-party email client, such as Outlook, there will be an email with instructions and a link to complete the transition.

If you have multiple email addresses, each of them will receive their own individual instructions when they are ready to move.

Completing the Move

After you have received the instruction to complete the move, see When is it Time to Complete the Move above, complete the following steps.

  1. Go to http://mail.yahoo.com/.
  2. Enter your full email address including the @cox.net and click Next
  3. Enter your existing email password and click Next.

Note: If you do not remember your password, go to the Cox email login page and click Forgot Password.

  4. Enter your full name and birthday, review Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and then click Next
  5. Create a new password to be used with your email going forward with Yahoo and click Continue.
  6. Review welcome message and click Done.

Note: Once you have completed the move, Yahoo will help you to personalize your inbox.
Important:
  • Two-step verification for your Cox email account does not transition to Yahoo. It can be set up with Yahoo Mail after your account has been transitioned.
  • In some circumstances, it can take up to 48 hours for all emails, folders, files, and contacts to appear after the transition.
