This is the New York City forum. Niagara Falls is 400 miles away.

Niagara Falls is closer to Toronto, Cleveland, and Detroit than it is to us. It is a very far distance. It is not in any way in the New York metro area or considered a local attraction to a single human living in the metro area. Yes, I'm just venting.

We just got a Niagara Falls question on the Philly forum. At least this forum is in the SAME state.

Yes, but the latter is very often from very small countries who have no clue as to the size of the US and the distances between places, and have NEVER bothered to look at a map or an Atlas.

That's the part I don't get. When planning a trip the first place we go is either an Atlas (if multi countries) or a really good quality map - and start looking at the overall geography and location of some of the places we want to see (and which might have to be dropped to lack of time or distances that are too long).

We get the Niagara Falls questions on the Montreal forum and these questions come from England, New Zealand, etc., not necessarily small countries. Some tourists think they can go from Montreal to Quebec City, to Ottawa, to Toronto and Niagara Falls in 7 days (and I have even read some who wanted to add Nova Scotia to their car trip).

I get your point nytraveler2016 but they could simply enter New York City and Niagara Falls on Google Maps to see the amount of time required to go from one to the other.

How hard is it to ask Google “distance from NYC to NF”.

I do this all the time - couldn’t be easier- the answer is always in miles and how long it takes to get there

Niagara Falls is more of a Canadian trip, not a US trip...

Many of the questions asked in these forums could be easily researched by the posters. If they can find this forum and ask the question then they could research the topic, look at Google Maps, etc.

The easy solution for NYC advisors is to not answer any more Niagara Falls questions.

#38 - Many people come to the US side of the falls; tourists spend more than $525 million there.
