Three Days in Duluth

We’re heading to Duluth in a week. How would you recommend spending our time? We want to skip museums and Glensheen because we did those several years ago with our kids.

We’re 70 so easy hiking would be nice. Shopping, restaurant recommendations.

Easiest Duluth hike is to drive to the very end of park point…park by the airport there and there is a flat trail through the woods that goes to the end of the point where boats enter thru canal…WI point! Old boat club ruins and light house ruins (if you know where to look). It’s about 3-4 miles rt. Also, you don’t have to climb enger tower for views, there’s paths which lead out to the rocks.

45 min. Vista Fleet Cruise, RR museum even if you don't have kids, Enger Tower (take your time with the steps), Leif Erickson (spelling?) Rose Garden, William Irwin Ore Boat Tour, day trip to Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock with a stop at Betty's Pies, lighthouse in Two Harbors.

If you do the hike mentioned in the previous response, be aware that the end of the hike farthest from the airport involves walking through deep sand. I found it a little challenging. Definitely wear good sneakers. The Lakewalk is easy and enjoyable in the evening.

While in Duluth, try the Northern Waters Smokehaus. It is exceptional.

OK…check out this hidden gem in a strip mall in the ‘hood I grew up in…Big Daddys Burgers…1/2 lb fresh cut fries and 1/3 burgers with lotsa toppings for under $10! It’s located on Piedmont Ave. they also have breakfast. Super cool place and you’llknow if Big Daddy is there cause …we’ll you just will!
