Nicer than your average Motel 6
Not up to par for your usual Comfort Inn, but better than the average Motel 6. Staff was friendly and helpful, but facility needs some TLC. Some basic maintenance could be done. Tub dripped, toilet ran, light fixture over mirror was rusty. Fit and finish was not done well. The mirror is wedged behind the new backsplash and the transition from floor to tile is missing grout. The bathroom was hairy and the carpet not well Vacuumed. Bathroom vent fan needs a good dusting/cleaning. Refrigerator only seemed to have 3 feet. Room 321. Breakfast was average, at best. Cereal, breads and pastries, egg patties, Sausage patties, bacon, apple & orange juice, make your own waffles, apples, bananas, and oranges. Coffee, tea, & hot water. Only saw half and half for creamer and couldn't find the Margarine/butter. Also had hard boiled eggs and yogurts. Breakfast area only seats about 22, so if they have a full house, it will be extremely over crowded. Works for a one night stay with the family.

    Great value and clean rooms
I stayed here for a week on business and was pretty happy with the accommodations. Plenty of parking. Nice and friendly front desk staff. Room were good size and clean. The water pressure on the shower was a little weak though. Hot Breakfast served daily. I I would recommend the place.

    Good Value
My wife and I travel a lot and look for good bargains. This is one. We have stayed in Comfort Inns often and find their amenities in our comfort and price range. After already booking our stay here, I saw this website and was a little alarmed to find some bad ratings on it for this property. However, this property met our expectations for the most part. We paid $112 total for two nights. The negatives were: an un-patched hole in the wall and three small holes in the curtains, lack of an outside door handle on the bathroom, an occasional unidentifiable odor, and a few ants in the bathroom, a noisy waffle alarm, and a reservation foul-up. The Positives: The reservation foul-up was handled professionally and courteously by "Monique". The property is "within walking distance" to Marina State Beach, about a half-mile away. Though Hwy 1 is near, sound of the highway could not be heard. The "waffle alarm" would affect only the first floor from 6 am to 10 am--I recommend upper floors to avoid that if you have "rabbit ears" and sounds bother you. Room was spacious and clean. Shower was powerful. "Odor" was probably drier scorching of bedsheets (not visibly noticeable)--only occasionally evident. Good ice machine. Easy highway access to Seaside and Monterey (eight miles), but property was away from hustle-bustle. "Safe" feel to grounds. Pleasant staff. Complimentary, hearty breakfast choices--hard-boiled eggs, fruit, waffles, cereal, milk, coffee (+ decaffineated), juice, plentiful seating. Free USA Today newspaper. Free toothbrush and paste (ask at desk). We liked it.

This is a very comfortable, family friendly, neighborly Hotel. Dollar for dollar a very good deal. A few minutes from Marina. Good free breakfast. Good restaurants nearby. Quite secluded neighborhood. Highly recommended.

The hotel was and is a good place to stay when in the Monterey Bay area. We were there 4 day and did enjoy each day. The staff was polite and greeted us each time we came in and left the property. They helped when we needed extra towels and did not question the need. Breakfast was filling and there was not ever a shortage. It is a short drive to the local beach and if you are industrious you could walk. We visit the area several times a year and will try to make it a point to stay again when we are there and spending time with our Family.

A great place to stay while touring the Monterey Bay less than a half hour away and only about a fifteen minute walk to Marina Beach ... The hotel was clean the rooms were clean the breakfast was more than one needs. All the staff were friendly from the front desk to housekeeping and even the grounds keeper were polite and helpful. The room carpets were clean but the hallway could use a deep clean but that would not stop us from going back

This hotel was a great surprise with a good price in an expensive area. It is between the nicest seaside cities near Monterrey. Clean hotel, Great Customer Service, nice breakfast and it is near a lot of nice places. It is near the beach and commercial areas. My family enjoy the stay and the area.

We arrived late and were welcomed by very nice and friendly staff. Our room was nice, I would say remodeled. We were on 2nd floor, I agree hall carpet could be updated but room was good. The only issue I had was that we were actually in a handicap accessible room and the shower head which I had to stand on edge of tub to reach was not on nice shower setting it was on intense jet setting. and when you turned on the water the shower head pipe going into the wall was not secured to the wall so it bounced back and forth about an inch to two inches. I told staff as we checked out that morning about the shower head pipe being loose. Over all though we would stay there again.

This is our 2nd Stay at this Hotel. We love the King Suite as the kids can sleep on the pull out couch in the living room area. There is a TV in both the living room area and in the bedroom area so the kids can watch cartoons on one tv while we watch something else on the other tv. Love that the room comes with a fridge, microwave and sink, as well as table and chairs to eat at. This time we stayed in room 215 and the only negative thing about our stay as that the bathroom light was broken - it turned on, so didn't affect our stay, but the glass was clearly broken on the glass covering the bulb (just looked bad). The shower had great water pressure but was also loose - on the pipe coming out of the wall. - Again nothing that affected our stay, but looked bad. both issues can

I have to say as a frequent traveler I don't normally stay at comfort inn's. However, Carmel was really booked up and I got a decent rate at this hotel. My overall impression it has a great staff people who are friendly and a great location right off the 1 Hwy and just a stones throw away from the beach. However as a business traveler I felt they are in need of a renovation. Everything is old and looks it. If you plan on only sleeping there this may not matter but if you are working and will go back to your room in the evening for the evening you may want to rethink it.

We were desperate for a place to stay and this was one of the last places with an open room. Prices in this area are ridiculously high in the summer for this area - so if you are expecting a "typical" $200/night hotel you will be unsatisfed. If you are expecting a Comfort Inn experience at a really high price (due to the economics of tourism) then you will be satisfied. The room was clean with nice beds, and reasonable furnishings, the staff on duty were friendly and helpful, and there was the typical breakfast layout available in the morning. The only thing that they need to change desperately is the carpeting in the hallways which really is pretty terrible and I think it is what sets people off.

Well, here's something positive: nice sheets and plenty of pillows; bed okay if you can't sleep in yours. NOT SO GOOD: furniture very dated and veneer falling off; rusty fixtures (like the toilet paper holder); ran out of hot water in shower; carpet had stains ALL over; bathroom sink very old and corroded. I closed my eyes when I brushed my teeth. We were there for the antique show in Moss Landing and stayed extra days for fun and to visit with friends. Plain wrap beer quality with a champagne price!

When we first walked in the lady at the desk was rude when we were asking standard questions about the hotel and the area. The room itself wasn't awful and the pillows were quite comfy but the beds were hard. Not what we were used to. The first morning the hot foods (eggs and sausage) were cold. The second morning they we semi warm and they ran out of muffins/pasteries. The internet was also spotty. Definitely will be staying with a different chain when we return. There are better hotels nearby for the money. It was the perfect location for getting around to Salinas, Seaside, and Marina while visiting family. Near lots of shopping.

There seemed to be several truck in the parking lot of people that were there on construction business. There is a Walmart across the street and you could also use that for parking if need be.
