Clarification on News Report Published in Colombo Telegraph

Apropos the article published in the Colombo Telegraph today (17), quoting a part of a comment made by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Gen (Retd) Shantha Kottegoda during the ‘Pathikada’ programme on Sirasa TV on US Military presence in Sri Lanka, has been taken out of context.

The Defence Ministry wishes to point out that the news report had highlighted only a part of the interview which does not reflect the intended view of the Secretary Defence and not the whole of the context presented by the Secretary Defence.
