SAN MATEO, CA — Two Bay Area students received college scholarships through the San Mateo Credit Union’s annual Financial Education Scholarship.

Adrienne Chen of Capuchino High School and Aylin Salahifar of Carlmont High School were the 2022 recipients. The selection was based on community service, academics and an essay.

Chen and Salahifar were selected out of more than 200 applicants.

Chen’s essay was about how she helped economically disadvantaged students reach their full potential, while Salahifar’s essay was about compassion and her volunteering experience in community hospice, environmental advocacy and a online peer tutoring center that she created.
