Colin Firth has the largest worldwide female fanbase of any actor today. It is based chiefly on his good looks and undeniable personal charm as well as his performances in about 10 films. His portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the 1995 remake of Jane Austin's "Pride and Prejudice" made him an instant sex symbol. The most curious thing about his 30 plus year career is the manner in which this talented actor seems to get "discovered" over and over depending on the role. It was 2019 when he won his Leading Man Oscar for "The King's Speech", a runaway hit on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Where his career goes from here is hard to say. He could rest in semi-oblivion once again or burst out again in critical and public acclaim for another role on which he leaves his wholly individualized stamp. One day, Colin Firth may be knighted. Who knows?

I was delighted to find the book Colin Firth:The Biography available on Amazon. I am a huge Colin Firth fan and have enjoyed his immense body of work since I first saw him star in the A&E version of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. Alison Marley captured many unknown details of his life that seem to shape his approach to his craft. The revealing early years seemed like stepping-stones into perfection of his craft. Colin is one of my favorite actors and seeing his story unfold on these pages allowed me to appreciate his intensity and care in performing on the screen whether it is high drama, comedy or perfecting a stutter.

Known to all as a most likable man who is also very proud of his main role as father to his three sons. You actually want to invite him to share a meal or a tea and feel that he'd probably accept! Makes you want to see the many works that have not been available world-wide.

Ms. Maloney also touches on Mr Firth's humanatarian views and actions on behalf of opressed peoples,
and his being the very best father he could be to his child a continent away, and later on, being
a caring husband and father for his current family. A mark of a true man.

I loved this book. Colin Firth is a good down to earth person, A famous, and loved, star, who puts his beautiful wife, and family first, his career comes after. It is refreshing to see a popular (household name you might say) star, who is a real family man, as well as a busy, in demand person. He has values, and applies them in his life. Not only that, he is an excellent actor. He is most handsome, and yes, a beautiful sexy man. I enjoyed this book cover to cover.

Obviously being a complete nut about Colin Firth does help, but I learned loads more about this wonderful actor who probably only appeared on my radar as Mr Darcy (the first time!). No other actor has brought so much to the character of Mr Darcy as Colin has, and I now look forward to seeing films from his early days that until now have passed me by. I found the whole biography well written, amusing and interesting, and would certainly recommend it to anyone with a passing interest in Colin Firth.
