Club Med Columbus in the Bahamas garners high marks for its spotless rooms and immaculate beaches, with many guests enamored by the resort's scenic beachfront setting. While the vibrant atmosphere, complete with themed nights and live music, adds to the allure, some visitors find the ambiance overly loud and the tunes repetitive. Although the rooms are recognized for their cleanliness and views, there's a consensus that they could benefit from modernization. Service is generally applauded, but a few inconsistencies have been noted. Guests have called out for better value, pointing to additional costs and limited dining that fell short of expectations.

This was our 3rd Club Med experience which we agreed was our vey best. BEACH: My God the beach was incredible with the beautiful white sand, crystal clear and long enough for picturesque and romantic walks. STAFF: The GOs we’re all amazing especially Mitch, Adeline,Faustin all the lobby and music staff Freddy, Tio and Steve.
Food: Incredible meals to meet all our favourite tastes. Lorna made the best omelettes every morning adding my jalopenas. We made a point of commenting to the various chefs how wonderful their food presentations were and so tasty. Please do the same.
Scuba & Snorkelling: One of our main reasons to go to Columbus isle. The staff was so incredible from my Dive master Alex who displayed professionalism to the highest level getting me to my open water certification. All the staff, David, Jillian Jean Paul Ann Julianna, Lucas sorry if I missed anyone. The diving was unbelievable seeing sharks barracuda sting rays tuna and a ton of beautiful fish plus we got to pet Jojo The Grouper.
Bar Staff: Way to go Frasr and Curtis. You guys are masters and gave me the best margarita ever. The cocktail parties were amazing with great live acoustic music.
White Night: Huge success in front of the pool with live music a champagne tour and beautifully decorated dining area near the pool. Check photo.
We decided to rent a car to tour the island contacting Debbie and got the car for a day. $50 and gas. Highly recommend you do your own tour 1 242 427-7033. Be sure to visit the lighthouse and do not be surprised to see goats come out when you enter the lighthouse. We also saw the Christopher Columbus landing sport where commemorated. Be sure to go the marina about 5 pm to see all the sharks that follow the boats in to their docks where the fisherman clean the fish and give leftovers to awaiting sharks. Lastly get to know The driver Roy who knows everyone on the island and was an incredible assistance and wealth of knowledge. Enjoy your trip we were there for two weeks and loved it. 30 May to 13 June 2023. We will be back.

We just returned from our second amazing trip to Columbus Club Med last week. The resort grounds are so comfortable and the beach location, behind a barrier reef, allows for a multitude water sport opportunities. We aren't the Sandals resort type as we appreciate value for money which Club Med delivers to active folks: twice daily snorkeling trips, tennis instruction and tournaments, sailing instruction and regattas. One day when the sailing centre was closed due to high winds, the sailing staff brought guests to a nearby marina to observe sharks feeding. On three consecutive days, wild dolphins visited the Club Med beach to swim with the guests for hours; a magical, once in a lifetime experience which we photographed and filmed.
We felt that the GOs and Seaquest staff were highly competent and engaged. Miguel especially was very patient in teaching beginner tennis lessons (in both Engish and French). All staff were very kind and sweet to us. While biking around the island on rented bikes, the locals were also friendly; waving and saying "hello" and even "bonjour"at times.
Thank you Club Med and Columbus for an unforgettable vacation.

It was our second trip to this resort within 12 months. We noticed that the meat from the outside grill was not as special and good as it had been during our last stay. It probably had something to do with Manual (the grill chef) having departed to another Club Med site. The main complain I have was the SPA experience that my wife had. We bought the 5 massage package deal online when we were doing the travel arrangements and paid $500. When we got to the resort, one of the GO's (Jean, the SPA manager) was pushing us to buy a massage package deal on site. We told him that we had already got one online. He responded that the deals at site are better and cheaper, buy 3 get one free for $300 (4 massages for $300). When we asked him if we could get a refund for the online massage deal and use instead the onsite deal he responded that Club Med does not do refunds. We felt screwed over by Club Med at that point. At one of my wife's massage appointments, my wife had booked one of her favorite Masseuse the previous day, when the Masseuse got ready to start the massage as my wife was already lying on the massage table, Jean took the Masseuse away from my wife and replaced her with another Masseuse. Reason: One of Jean's friend had also a massage appointment and demanded my wife's masseuse. My wife was so upset that she vigorously complaint and Jean, who didn't like confrontation, gave her finally a free massage to make up for his mishandling of that situation.
Also, US travelers cannot get to resort without having to pay the charter flight from Miami to Columbus Island. The problem with this setup is that charter flights only fly on Saturdays, implying that US travelers can only book trips from Saturdays to Saturdays with Club Med. If US travelers want to go to other outer island after having resided at Club Med they would obviously forfeit their flight back to MIA and wouldn't get a refund from Club Med.
I don't understand why Club Med won't charge for the MIA to Columbus flight separately, with other words only make customers pay for it if they want it, so that travelers coming from other Bahamas islands to Club Med don't have to pay for a flight they don't use!!! How ridiculous!!!

It is always such a pleasure to be reacquainted with Club Med employees such as Émilie Naud whom we initially met at Club Med Turks and Caicos. Émilie went out of her way to verify a few things for us, which made our trip that much more agreeable. Thank you to this very capable and charming employee of Club Med.
We have been to this Club many times and several others multiple times as well. We are still enchanted with Columbus, although this trip we noticed a few short comings. First, during the initial couple of days, the food was not as good as it has been historically; it did however improve somewhat during the week.
Additionally, there was no water skiing, and the snorkeling and Scuba now takes participants by school bus to a small marina down the road to board. My understanding is that water skiing is set to return in April, and it is still not clear when the Snorkeling/Scuba boats will return to the Club and dock at their usual place. Perhaps this is a regular occurence during the winter season?
I was hoping that the rooms would have been refurbished a bit since our last visit in 2019 but unfortunately, it was not the case. In fairness, this Club was closed during the pandemic. That said, Crystelle did an outstanding job keeping our room spotless, and should be commended for her attention to detail, professionalism, and making us feel very welcome.
Overall, despite a few other minor issues, I would recommend Club Med Columbus.

Gorgeous location with amazing stretch of beach. We had an awesome bartender, Fraser at La Pinta , who was always personable, attentive, and upbeat , providing 5 star service every day. La Pinta was a beautiful place for drinks and watching the sunset but you’ll never get a dinner reservation so go at lunch or for drinks. We had a very kind and attentive housekeeper, Kim. Shower temperature wouldn’t regulate so taking a shower would switch from scorching hot to cold and the rooms are quite simple but clean. There is pretty tasty food and lots of variety at Christopher’s Buffet.
The distances from some rooms are insane and we averaged 2.5 miles per day and the club doesn’t have any golf carts. Kayaking, sailing, water skiing and paddleboarding are free and easy. Thierry was always nice at the Sail Shack.
Unfortunately, indifferent GO’s made it a mediocre Club Med experience. Adeline, the Chef de Village should focus more on training the GOs to engage and interact with all travelers rather than just focusing on the Canadians and French. There is no kids club which is a huge disappointment and the teen club didn’t start until the Canadians arrived. There was no information provided at check in for the Americans (so if it’s your first time, you have to ask the Canadians who arrive on Tuesdays or the French who arrive on Thursdays what is going on).
Snorkeling the wreck site was fantastic but the GOs (Lolo) chose not to speak English so it was lazy and disrespectful to exclude some travelers. The location and quality of the beach and water are amazing but this Club Med needs lots of hospitality training and some basic upgrades like passenger golf carts.

We really enjoyed the laid back nature of this village. The Bar at La Pinta was one of our favorite places to sit with a drink, a book and listen to the waves crashing. We also really enjoyed sitting on the dock with a drink for sunset - there's no better view! Dinner at La Pinta was nice and definitely worth doing. We enjoyed changing things up for dinner and we also noticed that they had different house wine than the rest of the village.

The room was clean and the view from our balcony was beautiful! The bed was a bit worn in but the housekeeping staff did a great job everyday and we really enjoyed the turndown service - very thoughtful to leave water bottles on the night tables!

There are always lots of activities to do if thats what you're looking for. This village has jet skis that you can rent for an additional fee. We looked into it but ultimately decided it was a bit pricier than we wanted. Though honestly, if we go back, we'll probably splurge for it knowing the price ahead of time.

Our room has an odor of mold, caused our clothes to smell like left in washer smell so much moisture. Not to mention we are covered in bug bits (we think it’s bugs, very itchy/hives, we can’t see what is causing it possibly the No-See-Ums and can’t sleep because of it. Plus mattresses suck (we all have complained and there is 19 in our party). Place is outdated for sure.
For the positive: The food is amazing, but service is inconsistent for servers and front desk. Most employees are very kind and helpful.
I loved my massage but my husband wasn’t pleased with his.
Oh, drinks are watered down FOR SURE. Make sure you bring everything you need because the gift shop prices are completely unreasonable. $3.50 US dollars for a cheap lighter not a Bic, $9 for a 10 tampon box. Pair of ladies shorts $68.
The town is close by if you need to buy something that’s souvenir style.
We will not be returning to this place, definitely not a 4.5 star resort. Only because of the food I will give it a 2.75 star.

I took my husband to this resort 15 years ago for his birthday (June 2007). After a long closure due to Covid, we decided to return. The resort itself was freshly painted, the dive boats, sailboats and gear all appear new. The water is beautiful clear blue and the pool is peaceful. We ate all meals except for one in the main buffet dining room. The food was fresh and varied. There is something for everyone from beef, lamb, chicken, fish to various ethnic food choices, sushi, cheeses, fresh baked breads of many types and fabulous desserts including multiple flavors of gelato at lunch and dinner. My main issue with this resort if the guest rooms. They have not been updated since we were there 15 years ago. The furniture, room colors, room and bathroom fixtures are exactly the same. The bathroom countertop was stained in multiple places, the sink faucet was old and appeared rusted (likely due to the salt water), the shower water pressure was horrible and we spoke to multiple people who had the same water pressure issues. The shower and flooring need to be re-tiled or at the least re-grouted. We did not spend much time in our room once we left in the morning, but upon return in the evening, it was a little depressing. To top it off, the air conditioning is an old water cooled system which had a tough time keeping up. We had to keep our shades closed throughout the day to keep the room cool. This needs to be update!! Each room should have a mini-split for comfort. One GO told us that he French clientele do not like too much air conditioning, so all areas in the resort with air are barely cool. At least half of the resort guests were American, so I believe this could be an issue. Overall we had a great vacation, but our expectations had to come down to meet the rooms reality.

We have visited Columbus Isle about 10 times since it opened. We miss a lot of things that used to be part of the experience. Some of these are theme meals (ie. French night, Italian night, Bahamian night, etc.) giving a taste of foods from various locations. We liked the former two restaurants above the Sea Center. Don't like the tapas menu but love to eat lunch there as the view is fantastic.
Furniture is mostly uncomfortable both in the Sea Center restaurant and bar. This also goes for the porch chairs in the rooms which require the use of the room's pillows as cushions.
It would be better if the AC worked better the rooms and toilets need to be replace with low volume units to save water.

Beach and ocean spectacular
Food at Christopher’s and LaPinta was perfect.
We have been on many vacations and cruises but never had food so we’ll prepared and presented as at this Club Med. LaPinta was great. Chef Alexander came out to touch base with all the guests and was so friendly. He got a standing ovation from our group.
The whole crew from bartender Cynthia to manager Nico were so friendly and happy.
It was always a party atmosphere.
We will return.
Day long excursion to private island with snorkeling and lobster dinner on the beach was unforgettable. The best day ever
