What travelers are saying
- BerryvilletravelerBerryville, VA8 contributionsWe visited Clonakilty in October and the centre was closed (off season). However, an email to the centre (Tim Crowley) offered a quick response and we booked a private tour for our party of five. We drove in our car and Tim drove in his. We stopped at four locations and learned about every phase of Michael Collins’ life. It was 3.5 hours and was one of the best tours we had in Ireland. My 8 year old son enjoyed it and Tim kept his attention. Tim was incredibly knowledgeable and very hospitable.Written October 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pompeygirl1972Hastings, UK267 contributionsWhat a stunning beach and the views were spectacular
We arrived during a week of sun ☀️ and had 3 visits, the first to find out bearing and then 2 other visits to swim. One day being amazing sunshine and the other a bit cloudy and very choppy with huge waves
Lots of surfers and people on boards enjoying the waves, we just enjoyed jumping them.
Was still warm enough to swim
Free parking is great, a little place to grab coffee and nibbles next to the hotel which must have stunning views

- Sali F1 contributionThe tour was just amazing…. Absolutely loved it. Chloe was our very Informative guide and luckily for me, not too technical.
The whiskey tasting was great, with a takeaway option for our driver which was greatly appreciated.
Enjoyed the shop and as a brandy drinker was intrigued to know what the whiskey recommendation would be. Galley Head was the choice and it was my favourite of all. Top job. Thank you.Written April 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Mid teen kids enjoyed finding out more about independence in Ireland and listening to the audio tour (free to download as soon as you get into the museum). They especially liked the quotes on the walls. Excellent place for a rainy day.Written April 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dcee2233 contributionsIt rained the day I went there so we couldn’t hang out like we wanted to but we still got out and checked it out a lot of Michael Collin’s history in the area so it was a cool experience!!Written December 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tony ODublin, Ireland40 contributionsWe attended a wedding there that catered for somewhere over 200 people. The meal was magnificent - my fillet steak was cooked to perfection, a lovely hint of pink in it. Well done to all involved.Written October 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JCKCorkCounty Cork, Ireland36 contributionsI wasn't too sure if I should review this site as it is abandoned and as a consequence neglected. However this shouldn't be the case as it is a lost opportunity to illustrate the way our ancestors lived during the period that this type of site would have been in use. It was many years since I had first been here, a wonderful experience back then, when it had just been reconstructed by Clonakilty Macra Na Feirme in the late 1980's. The Ringfort is believed to have been originally constructed as early as 400 BC and has its own souterrain. The central building has remained intact a tribute to the standard of the reconstruction that was carried out over 30years ago. What a pity this site has been left to decay, when it seems that it wouldn't take a great deal of work to redevelop it as an tourism and educational facility. It is perhaps, the only example that I know, that is on an original site.Written June 24, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mr TDublin, Ireland110 contributionsI visited in mid July and found a small volunteer run museum in an old mouldy building in need of deserved funding as there are many interesting exhibits about Collins,Tom Barry,O Donovan Rossa, The GAA,Church, rural life etc. Give these guys some lotto money and this could be an excellent space!Written July 15, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
