Honestly, Its so annoying, whenever I think I know them all, I discover that I dont.
Other than getting out of vision, buying quicksilver, cleanse, morgana's spell shield, sivir spell shield, nocturne's spell shield, gang plank's built in cleanse, which are some I could list from my memory that could put cancel ur ult or put it in cooldown.
I've faced some pretty odd situations where my ult doesn't go through and is put into cooldown.
Like if I ult a Vi as she was ulting someone else, my ult goes in cooldown.
If warwick, or any champ fear me while I'm doing my ult animation, it goes into cooldown.
If Yone is in his soul form and presses E during my ult animation, it goes into cooldown .
Honestly I think we should Have a post that at least states all of the possible scenarios, so we can know of we are facing a bug or if that's supposed to happen, cuz losing mords ult, especially in early game, puts u at a disadvantage.

Sivir E (spellshield). Morgana E (magic spellshield). Illaoi R (when she first casts it). Sett R. Sion R. Fiora W (parry). Vi R. Olaf R. Rengar empowered W. Malphite R. Mundo Passive. Hecarim R. Ornn W. Alistar R. Gangplank W. Nocturne W (spellshield). Shyvana R (during her dash when she turns into a dragon). Volibear R (when he first casts it). Viego R. Warwick R (during the leap). Yone E can cleanse it but he needs to time it right. If he doesn't recast and goes to your ult, his E will let him escape I think but he needs to wait for its full duration and can't recast it on demand. Ulting a clone (e.g. Shaco's, Wukong's, LeBlanc's etc etc) makes Morde's R go on cd I believe but I am not 100% sure.
Malzahar's passive does NOT block Morde's R. Let me know if I missed anything, as I don't remember every detail about each ult. For example, does Vex become unstoppable during her R? Jarvan during his R cast? I am not sure.
EDIT: Losing vision of someone while you are channeling the ult does not put it to cd. QSS obviously cancels your ult. Spellshields from items cancel your ult (banshees, edge of night). Cleanse, however, does not work.

Mundo Passive? What? I remember that once you ult him, his passive pop out but you're still send to Brazil with him.
Yone E won't let him escape its fixed. Now he just can't recast it until Death Realm ends, immediately going back to his E position as it ends. (Tbh it's stupid, cuz he get more time to deal dmg = more true dmg)
Vex when flying on second cast of R is unstoppable - so yes, R'ing her in middle of fly won't work. Same as Jarvan. His jump makes him unstoppable for a moment (I saw Jarvan countering Poppy R when she tried to escape)
Note that Alistar can cleanse Morde R when already in DR.
Mundo's passive was patched so it now blocks the mord r. I used to pop and still take him.
Ye like the other user said, they changed the interaction with Mundo's passive. And thanks for the rest of the info, Yone E still confuses me lol. But yeah you don't want to ult the lategame Yone anyway, he will rip you apart :P
Yeah the interaction with Mundo was patched like a week or two after his release. You need to proc his passive via E before getting your R off.
I had a game recently on yone where I was able to recast my E during the morde ult so either it hasnt been fixed properly or it is possible to break the ult with the recast of E.

Cancels the cast but doesn't put your ult on CD.
Basically any champion that can become untargetable (e.g. Fizz E) or stealth (e.g. Kha'zix) cancels Morde's ult channel but does not put it on cd. Unstoppable enemies, spellshields and QSS/qss-like abilities put his ult on cd.

Kai'sa envolved E cancels it too. She goes invisible during E cast time.
Oh wow I didn't expect a reply to such an old comment of mine haha. Kai'Sa cancels Morde's ulti but doesn't put it on cooldown. But ye it's a neat trick to use against Morde.

Oooh you are right, silences DO cancel channels and put them on cd. So stuff like Kassadin, fiddles, chogath etc can potentially screw Morde.
I once ulted a blitz who R'ed at about the same time. What happened was that he went to the death realm but his R field only happened outside of the death realm causing it to not hit me. How would you explain this?

I think its mostly:
Vision cancels.
Anything that cleanses CC cleanses ult.
Spellshields Block the ult.
Ulting someone while they are unstoppable 'cancels' the ult effect.
Except For cancels with Vision (and maybe range?) Is Just normal CC behavior, and Morde ult counts as cc
I think Cleanse notably doesnt cleanse it.
Don't forget rengars empowered w, fioras counter, invisibility and Many more
Losing vision, if enemy is untargetable, if enemy is unstoppable.

Malz and Mundo passive will put ult on cd.
Wukng using clone will cancel ult but not put it on cd.
Malz passive doesn't block Morde ult because our ult first applies a slow, breaking Malz passive, then our ult takes him in
Malz passive does not block Morde's ult.
