Clément Lenglet played on loan for Tottenham in the Premier League last season

Aston Villa have completed a loan move for Barcelona defender Clément Lenglet, subject to his visa being approved.

The 28-year-old France international is returning to the Premier League after making 24 starts in 26 appearances last season for Tottenham.

Villa have been seeking cover at centre-back after Tyrone Mings suffered a serious knee injury in their opening day 5-1 defeat at Newcastle.

Lenglet has made 15 appearances for France since making his debut in 2019.

    Has been very ordinary since transfer to Barcelona....was excellent under Emery at Sevilla...could be good signing.

    An excellent signing with Mings out for most of the season.

    We have very good cover/competition in almost every position now, except for Martinez, but most clubs have a big drop off to the second choice keeper.

    The squad will look even stronger when Ramsey and Moreno are back, hopefully in time for the Conference League group matches.

      Apparently Moreno will be assessed before the Liverpool game, so even if he doesn't make that one, good chance he'll be back in contention after the international break.

    judging a player by how good he was at Spurs last season is risky. Virtually everyone at Spurs last season played poorly. Reckon Emery will get far more out of him

    Attracting decent players, will need a deep squad. Hoping for top 6, maybe win a cup. Best coach in the premiership, took over when villa in dire straights.

    Didn't look that great when on loan for Spurs but Emery knows him from their time at Seville so hopefully he knows how to get the best out of him and it will be good for squad depth.
