YWCA offers racial justice challenge

Registration is open and ongoing for a free month-long virtual learning opportunityrthe YWCA of Cortland is taking part in that explores equity and social justice.

Participants in the 2024 Racial Justice Challenge will receive content to engage with each weekday from April 1 to April 29 via a website or mobile app. For details to to take part, go to https://tinyurl.com/2vhtuy34.

“The YWCA Racial Justice Challenge is designed to create dedicated time and space to build more effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of race, power, privilege, and leadership,” said Kelly Tobin, YWCA Cortland’s Executive Director. “The challenge works to foster personal reflection, encourage social responsibility and motivate participants to identify ways to dismantle racism and other forms of discrimination.”

Daily challenge activities, such as reading an article, listening to a podcast or reflecting on personal experienc are posted in the Challenge app (available from the Apple or Google Play stores) and website, allowing participants to connect with one another and discover how racial and social injustice impact our communities.

Each week covers a different topic: bodily autonomy; financial empowerment; gun violence and transportation.

The Racial Justice Challenge is a component for the national Until Justice Just Is campaign to raise awareness of systemic racism and how each person can take action.
