5 Musical Duos Who Deserve a Spot (Or Two) on Your Playlist

We often hear about great solo artists and fantastic bands, but some of the best songs out there were made by two people. Here are five incredible duos you may not have heard of yet, ranging from R&B to folk pop!

Aly & AJ

If you grew up watching Disney Channel, there’s a good chance that Aly and AJ Michalka were part of your childhood soundtrack with tracks like “Potential Breakup Song” and “Like Whoa.” They released their album A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun earlier this year, their first record in 14 years, and fans have been reminded of why they fell in love with the duo in the first place. You can connect with Aly & AJ on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and their official website!

Chloe x Halle

Sisters Chloe and Halle Bailey seamlessly harmonize on their velvety songs, which combine elements of R&B and pop. You may recognize them from Radio Disney’s 2012 N.B.T. competition or their regular roles on Freeform’s Grown-Ish, which cement them as show-stopping triple-threats. Check in with the girls on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and their official website!

Gawain and the Green Knight

Inspired by Greek mythology and storytelling, folk duo (and couple) Gawain and the Green Knight will transport you to another reality with their vivid lyrics. Alexia Antoniou and Mike O’Malley explore topics like pandemic anxiety, the story of Dionysus, and insecurities on their latest EP, A Sleeping Place, which came out earlier this summer. You can connect with Alexia and Mike on Instagram, Facebook, and their official website.

girlfriends

Combining nostalgic elements of pop-punk with modern stories and twists, girlfriends is the brainchild of Goldfinger drummer Nick Gross and Apple Music radio host Travis Mills. If you’re digging rock’s mainstream comeback through artists like Machine Gun Kelly and Willow, you’ll love these guys. They’re even opening for MGK and MOD SUN later this year, marking some of their first live shows. Get to know girlfriends on Instagram and Twitter!

Holy Hive

Music-loving friends Paul Spring and Homer Steinweiss team up to make soulful folk as Holy Hive, whose recent single “Ain’t That The Way” earned a feature from Rolling Stone. With smooth vocals and bouncy, yet still mellow, instrumentation, “Ain’t That The Way” is great for fans of The National and Bon Iver, and it’s set to appear on the group’s upcoming self-titled album.
