Duke center Christian Reeves has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal according to multiple reports and verified by TheDevilsDen.com on Wednesday morning.

Reeves becomes the first player to depart the Blue Devil program following the 2023-24 season, but is not expected to be the last as head coach Jon Scheyer and his assistants brace for an offseason that could see a heavy overhaul of the current roster.

The first step in that potential tidal wave of change was the 7-foot-1 center from Charlotte who appeared in 13 games over a two year career, averaging 1.5 points and 1.0 rebounds.

As a high school senior Reeves was considered a high three-star prospect who committed to Duke in December of 2021 as a developmental player, expected to work in practice for a couple of seasons before breaking into the rotation as an upperclassman.

Unfortunately, that didn't happens as injuries robbed Reeves of what would have been his sophomore season in 2023-24 by forcing an in-season surgery that sidelined him for the entirety of the year following the season opener against Dartmouth where he logged two points, three rebounds, and a block.

Reeves becomes the first player in the Jon Scheyer era to depart the Duke program via the transfer portal.

His departure now leaves Duke with 16 players on next year's projected roster, three more than allowable under NCAA rules. Duke is still anticipating decisions regarding professional careers from players such as Kyle Filipowski, Jared McCain, and Jeremy Roach. There are also other potential entrants to the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Duke will welcome the nation's top recruiting class to campus in the early summer which will add six new players to the roster.
