Rumor: Chip Kelly To Coach USC

The new rumor is that Chip Kelly will be the next coach at USC and that Steve Sarkisian will be fired at the end of the season, according to Pro Football Talk. Sports Illustrated is reporting “USC had strong interest in Kelly when it hired Sarkisian.”
The rumors heated up today after USC lost at home to Washington, 17-12, which is considered an incredibly embarrassing loss for a program that some saw as a Final Four contender. Sarkisian, who made news in August for having alcohol issues, is just 12-6 in less than two seasons at USC. Chip Kelly was 46-7 at Oregon before leaving for the Eagles.
Pete Thamel writes today:

Haden’s ill-fated decision making was on full display Thursday night. And while this loss doesn’t mark the end of Sarkisian’s time at USC, it marks a definitive point where people can start speculating about the end. And that will certainly include Eagles coach Chip Kelly.

Kelly’s show-cause penalty from the NCAA has expired, making it possible for a smooth transition back to the college game.
