Carol Stibbe OBITUARY

Carol Lind Stibbe was born on July 20, 1932 to Carl and Ruth Lind. She attended Northern Illinois Teachers College, where she met Phyllis Stibbe and was introduced to Phyllis’s brother, R.T. – the man who became the love of her life. They married on July 30, 1955 and settled in Naperville. Carol taught first grade at Ellsworth School until the birth of their first child. After both of their children were in school full-time, she returned to teaching and taught 3rd grade at Longwood School for 26 years until she retired in 1992.

As a couple, Carol and R.T. were active members at Community United Methodist Church. They enjoyed traveling, square dancing, and playing bridge in which Carol achieved Silver Life Master Status. She also enjoyed knitting, baking cookies for her grandkids, cooking for her family, reading, and having lunch with her friends. She volunteered at Serendipity Resale Shop for many years and brought home many bargains.

Her greatest love was her family, including her husband R.T., their children Karen Syverson and Tom Stibbe, their in-law children Mark Syverson and Liz Stibbe, and their four grandsons: Alex and Luke Priebe, and Trevor and Spencer Stibbe. Carol loved playing games with them and often made the whole group laugh so hard that game play had to be temporarily suspended. She was overjoyed to attend Trevor’s wedding in September 2023 to Amanda Cooper. She also enjoyed seeing pictures of and spending time with two honorary great-granddaughters.

She died February 4, 2024 and reunited with her beloved R.T., her parents, and her brother Bobby.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 17 at Community United Methodist Church, located at 20 N. Center Street, Naperville, IL. The visitation will start at 10:00 AM, and the service will begin at 11:00 AM, followed immediately by lunch.
