    Great Zoo
Great zoo on the side of a mountain. There are a lot of Giraffes that you can feed. Then we took an elevator to the top then made our way down through the many exhibits. Our favorites Australia with Wallabees roaming free and the Grizzly Bears
Thank you so much for your review! We hope you can visit us again soon.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a MUST-SEE!
What a beautiful zoo! I got a good workout as well as it is built on the Cheyenne Mountain. We enjoyed all the exhibits and especially enjoyed feeding the giraffes and the elephants. The skyway was a delight with such spectacular views! My only disappointment was not being able to go to The Shrine to the Sun as I was dropped off by Uber. You cannot walk up to the Shrine and there is no trolley service available. If you are in Colorado Springs make time for the zoo!
Thanks for the great review! We're so glad you got to feed our giraffe herd, and especially one of our elephants. It's such a special experience! We're sorry you didn't get to visit the Shrine of the Sun. Unfortunately, the two-mile road of switchbacks and incline up to the Shrine would not be safe for both pedestrians and cars at the same time. Thanks again, and we hope you can visit again someday!

    Pretty Awesome Zoo!
While attending a family reunion in the area, about 25 family members visited the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs. Tickets were ordered online, and there were still hourly options available the evening before our visit. With an elevation of 6,700 feet, it is the highest zoo in the USA. The 'mountain' in the zoo's title is also accurate, as it is quite hilly! It is an absolutely beautiful zoo, with many varieties of animals featured in their natural habitat. The family favorite was their time spent feeding and interacting with the giraffes!🦒 It was a wonderful family outing making precious memories!
Thank you for this thoughtful review! We are proud to have helped you and your family make lasting memories together. We hope you can visit again!

    Loved this Zoo!!!
So many animals you can see up close. Being able to feed a giraffe, rhino and elephant were incredible. Love that the actual keepers were around to answer you questions. Great kid area for them to play in. The food was delicious compared to the food at most zoos. You have to by tickets in advance and it is a timed entry. We went from 11:00 -11:30 and it was perfect. Would have loved to ride the skyway but ran out of time.
Thank you for your thoughtful review! We're glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you can come back soon.

    Mountains surrounds the zoo!
Giraffes there were 14 of them! I do think their area needs to be a little bigger! Mountains surrounding the zoo makes it neat! Pizza there was very good! I would recommend the zoo. Do be prepared to walk up & down hills and climb a lot of stairs.
There are actually 18 giraffe that call CMZoo home! Sometimes, individuals remain in the barn for special training or if they just decide they don't want to be outside, which is likely why you missed a few. Although their current home is comfortable for them, we are in the planning phases to create a new exhibit for our giraffe that will include more amenities and space. The new facility is planned to be completed in the next couple of years. Thanks so much for the review and the great advice to others. We hope you can visit again!

Moderate in size, but vast in quality. Be sure you have a ticket to get in!
This was our first trip to Colorado. We live near Chicago and have some wonderful zoos near us, but this zoo was amazing. It was smaller than the ones at home, but the enclosures were large, had plenty of shade and structure, and were closer to the people, which made the animals easier to observe. There was still a good variety of animals to see. The kids absolutely loved feeding the animals, and the cost to do so did not break the bank as at other zoos. The animals here were active and looked very healthy and happy. We loved the freedom given to some of the animals. It took us about 6 hours to go though the zoo, but we like to stop and watch the animals and read the information, so we go at a slow pace. I felt the price was a little high at almost $40 per person, but there are signs telling you that they get no government funding, so all of their operational costs come from donations and your admission costs. I was happy to pay it after seeing the care the animals received. We would definitely recommend visiting. Be sure to pre-purchase your tickets. You are required to have one in order to enter and they limit how many people per day can visit, so they often sell out.
Thank you so much for your review! We are glad you had an amazing time. We hope you can visit us again soon.

    Wonderful Experience
We took the Starlight Tour with our adult daughter, son, their spouses and grandchildren ages, 9, 8 and 6. Rachel and Korina were our guides and I can not say enough about what a wonderful experience they provided! Our grands asked really great questions and Rachel and Korina were infinitely patient and engaged. Definitely recommend this awesome zoo and the Starlight Tour!!
We love hearing about this experience! We're so glad your family had a memorable evening at the Zoo. We hope you can visit again soon!

    Best zoo!
This is one of the best zoos I’ve been to! The view is amazing from around the zoo and the variety of animals is impressive! We got up close and personal with giraffes, lions, and the Mexican wolves. We also did the skylift which was a lot of fun.
Thanks so much for your review! We're glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you can come back soon.

Very nice and can be expensive if you go for all the "extras"
Really nice zoo. Well run, clean, lots of friendly staff. We, 2 adults , 1 teen, 1 pre-teen, spent 4 hours seeing all exhibits, sky ride and an expensive lunch
We're so glad you enjoyed your visit! Keep in mind, in case you want to visit again, that we also allow guests to bring their own food and drinks into the Zoo if they prefer, but we feel our food prices are fair compared to other similar destinations. We hope you can come back soon!

    Crowded but Fun!
Great place to take the kids and family for the day!! It was very warm the afternoon we were there, so make sure to take umbrellas, water and sun screen on those warm days. The zoo had fans and water sprayers available and the grandsons loved that! Take advantage of those as they are available. We had an early entry, so that helped some with the crowd, but there were still a lot of people there.
Thanks for sharing your great advice and for the five-star review! We hope you can visit again.

We stayed at the Great Wolf lodge but needed something else to do so we decided to take the kids to the Colorado zoo. It was good for the most part. You have to pre buy your tickets on line then they scan them at the gate. As soon as they scanned our tickets and was walking through the gate the ticket lady said by the way all the animals are indoors because of the wind. It would have been nice to know that before we paid and drive up there expecting to see all the exhibits. We got to see most of the animals but they were all indoors which took away from the experience. Most all the eating places inside the gate were closed but we were able to find a stand selling dippin dots and cotton candy’s which the kids liked. This would have been a good day for 1/2 price tickets because that’s what I felt like it was worth. Hopefully they will start notifying guests about the all animals being indoor before they pay for the tickets. Had all the animals been on display and everything been open I would have left a 5 but felt this trip was only a 3.

What we thought was going to be a timed spaced out and safe experience based on our website research and purchasing tickets well in advance resulted in zero social distancing, despite a staff employee tour trying to brag about all the measures they had in place. When I commented to staff as they were corralling us closer and closer tightly together near the giraffe experience, they said over the weekend they increased their traffic volume considerably - this as numbers are on the rise. Could barely park. Not enough masks, lots of ignoring of signs. We left and won’t be returning any time soon.

This is a really interesting zoo, as it is at fairly high altitudes (over a mile). They have a good elephant program and we enjoyed the snow leopards too. The giraffe feed (cost) is fun for both kids and adults. A couple of points to note. The zoo goes upward from the entrance. It might be best to go to the top first and work one's way down. Second, the zoo is at high altitude--over 6700 ft. Precautions should be taken. Drink lots of water even if you do not feel thirsty. It's easy to become dehydrated at altitude in a drier climate. Wear a hat and use sunscreen, even if it isn't hot or sunny, as there's less air to dilute the sun's rays.

This place has amazing views of the Broadmore, Security water tower, etc. from their restaurant that serves adult beverages and American fast food. The first Animals you will encounter are the giraffes. They will come up to you and eat lettice out of your hand, that you buy for $5.00 for 2 people as a donation. If you want to feed the ones not getting so much attention, you can save some or buy extra for the indoor ones. Keep going straight for Elephants, or go straight and take a left for lions and tigers or take a sharp left and meet the indoor and outdoor monkeys. Don't forget, access to Will Roger's Shrine is included with your zoo admission (separate enterence to drive to_.

When we planned our trip and booked all of our excursions weeks ago, the zoo was the only excursion that had no option to pre-book tickets. We’re here now and the price of a ticket has significantly increased. In addition, you are now required to pre-purchase tickets for a timed entry. Because we didn’t know this, we are now paying over twice the ticket price and can’t even get into the park until half way through the day.

This is a small zoo is set on the side of a mountain which allows for great displays of the various animals as different levels. It is organized by region, rather than by the type of animals. There is a tram which takes you up and down the mountain (extra fee). It gives you a nice view of the city and the mountain but cannot be used to view the animals. We got on it thinking we could get off and walk down the hill to the displays, but that was not an option. They offer cheap shuttles to take you back and forth if you would prefer to not walk up or down the slopes to the viewing areas.
It's a pleasant setup and definitely a nice way to enjoy the day.

This is one of the nicer zoos I’ve been to. There were awesome views of the landscape in the zoo and you could get pretty close to all of the animals. I recommend going first thing in the morning because there aren’t as many people.

This zoo was unique to me from other zoos as the interaction with animals was a bit more exotic. Feeding and touching the giraffes was my highlight! You also have the option of feeding an elephant and a rhino (additional fee for those 2). It's easy to find your way around the zoo and to spot the animals. You can get a close-up of the lions etc. Great place!

This zoo was expensive for the price of it, but we did enjoy the zoo especially when we were able to feed the giraffes. The food was good there, and we enjoyed all the exhibits. Also, i will recommend be ready to hike because it is all up hill! This zoo also had great views of Colorado springs.

This is a fairly progressive mid-sized zoo with mostly generous animal enclosures providing a more "natural" environment for the animals. Highlights include the giraffe herd with opportunities for hand feeding, their program for geriatric elephants, and the fairly new African Coasts exhibit with hippos and temperate climate penguins. When we were there it was around mid-day and several animals were relaxing out of sight, and several were unviewable due to being under the care of the vet. Special treats were the mother wallaby with a joey in her pouch, and feeding time for the orangs. The location is on the side of a mountain at about 6700 feet elevation so it can be strenuous to walk around for some. Be prepared! Be sure and get tickets on-line before going there so you are not disappointed by the limited admissions due to the pandemic.
