All-New Chevy Montana Officially Launches In Brazil

Two months after the world debut of all-new 2023 Chevy Montana in Brazil, General Motors has just officially launched the entire range of Chevrolet‘s compact pickup in the South American country.
GM South America released the all-new 2023 Chevy Montana in Brazil on February 10th, through a special press event that included test drives and a first preview of the new compact pickup for other countries in the region where it will be introduced this year. The automaker confirmed that the 2023 Montana will initially be offered with four distinctive trim levels in Brazilian market.
“The New Montana brings an innovative concept with the potential to extrapolate the very universe formed by the pickup truck audience, a movement similar to what happened with SUVs in the USA,” said GM South America Product Marketing Director, Rodrigo Fioco. “Four versions of Chevrolet’s compact pickup were designed for different profiles, from those looking for versatility in a vehicle with a manual transmission and a more accessible price to those who can’t give up a car with an automatic transmission and a high level of sophistication,” he added.
The company had only announced the 2023 Chevy Montana in range-topping Premier and LTZ trims – which went on pre-sale following the pickup’s official unveiling on December 1st. Now, the range is completed with the entry-level MT and LT versions that come standard with the most advanced technologies, such as six airbags, automatic headlamps and full connectivity with wireless projection for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, on-board Wi-Fi, over-the-air updates and advanced OnStar services.

Cosmetically, each Chevy Montana variant features a distinctive finish. Top trim levels share the same moldings and 17-inch wheels, with a blacked-out finish on the Premier and chrome appliqués on the LTZ. The LT maintains most of the elements of LTZ, but with specific 16-inch wheels and less chrome on its grille, while the MT has no roof bars or bed cover, while being mounted on steel wheels with covers.

The entire 2023 Chevy Montana lineup is powered by a turbocharged 1.2L engine that develops 133 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque, mated to one of two transmission options. In the MT and LT trim levels, the engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, while the LTZ and Premier versions feature a six-speed automatic. A front-wheel drivetrain is standard on all four trims.
The all-new 2023 Chevy Montana pickup will be available for sale in the Brazilian market starting next week, when the third-generation Montana will officially arrive at the Bow Tie brand’s dealer network. It’s Chevrolet’s most strategic launch this year in that country as it competes for overall sales leadership. Here are the 2023 Montana prices in Brazil:
- 2023 Montana MT: 116,890 real (about $22,390 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2023 Montana LT: 121,990 real ($23,370 USD)
- 2023 Montana LTZ: 134,490 real ($25,760 USD)
- 2023 Montana Premier: 140,490 real ($26,910 USD)

The more I see these the more intrigued I become. Surprised if they come to USA. Any dimensions available?

I believe this will come to North America , once production in the home market is up to speed. The truck likely could be manufactured for NA in Korea.
The truck would fit into the chevy NA lineup without any issue , given the styling has similar clues to the larger Silverado EV.
While its smaller than the Maverick ,I believe there is still a market for this pickup . Look at the CUV market you have small vehicles like the front drive only Venu, Soul , Kicks etc , that compete alongside similar size vehicles from their respective manufacturers that offer AWD. Their size is smaller , along with their price point , but they seem to be selling very well.
The same would be the case for this small pickup if GM could make and ship it here, or better yet build it here!
I wish the Montana was available in the U.S. GM is just conceding the small pickup segment to Ford and the Maverick.

To everyone saying this would work in the US, look at the size difference between the already small Maverick and the Montana (see other comments). The Montana is in a size-class below, it’s like getting a Chevy Colorado to compete with the F150.
Because of this difference, I don’t think GM would be able to charge enough to make money while still being low enough to win over the Maverick/Santa Cruz buyers.
That being said, they would do well to have an actual Maverick competitor based on the Equinox.
so they should bring the S10 back now that the Colorado is as big as a 2000 something Silverado.
What I really want is a truck based Camaro…take the Camaro and make it into the El Camino.
If this comes with a manual transmission option in the U.S….color me intrigued…if it is automatic only in the U.S….I will have no interest. I have no interest in the Maverick for the same reason, no manual transmission option….but I have a feeling Ford might come out with a Maverick ST with a manual transmission….well it is more likely than this Chevy coming to the U.S….let alone with a manual. I won’t buy an automatic.
When, will Chevy Montana be available in Mexico? And when can U preorder it from a Mexico dealer?
