On Wednesday, August 18th, 2021, the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Marinette County Health Department, conducted Underage Alcohol Compliance checks countywide at local businesses that sell alcohol for off-site consumption. Upon completion of the checks, it was found that 8 of the 38 businesses checked had violated state law and sold alcohol to a minor. The purpose of the checks is to try to be more proactive and stop the sale of alcohol to minors.
Previous sale percentages for the past five years of checks are as follows:
2016 – 46% 2017 – 19% 2018 – 18% 2019 – 11%
2020 – No Checks due to Covid/Masking
