Paris: City Introduction

Paris, the capital and most populous city of France, is one of the top 10 most-visited cities in the world. According to the latest Euromonitor data, as cited by WEF, 14.4 million spent at least one night visiting the city last year. However, the latest Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index ranks Paris at the third position after Bangkok and London. The city is served by two prime airports including Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Paris-Orly (ORY). Paris is hosting seven matches of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019.

According to the Global Property Handbook by Wealth-X, Paris is the most-expensive city in the world to live in, only next to Singapore.

Geographical Location

Paris has its latitude and longitude coordinates as 48° 51′ 52.9776” N and 2° 20′ 56.4504” E. It’s located in northern central France on both sides of the River Seine. The city territory comprises of flat and hilly areas. Montmartre at 130 m (427 ft) is the highest hill. Most of the flights to Paris cross the North Atlantic Ocean.

Best Times to Visit

In terms of weather, the best time to visit Paris is from April to October when the average high temperature hovers between 60°F (15°C) and 77 °F (25 °C) and average low between 45°F (7.3°C) and 60°F (15°C).
