I had been looking forward to visiting this restaurant for a while. The setting is lovely, although very hot when booking at 7.30. I was told that tables upstairs were for people of 6, which later on turned out to be untrue. Most of us...ordered the beef fillet, which for 40 euros was cut unreasonably thin and each arrived "well done". Desert and cocktails were good. Won't return for food. Maybe just downstairs for cocktails.More

The great thing about this Resturant is the setting which is stunning. However, for the price of the meal we were a little disappointed with the service provided. We felt as though we were rushed into taking our food orders which were very limited and...arrived very, very quickly (whilst my partner was not currently seated, resulting in luke-warm food for him). We then felt pressured to order desert, which was tasty but not for the price paid. As is the ‘done thing’ in France, we tipped our waiter however received no thank you or a goodbye on our exit. We spent a maximum of 45 minutes in the Resturant due to overly quick, average service. It would have been nice to sit and enjoy the view. You pay for the surroundings.More

Apart from the €50 per person deposit required and according to the website no cancellation allowed without losing it, the choice of all courses on the menu was small. That said, our starters and one of the main courses were excellent. The risotto though was...uninspired and poor value for money. Service was good but at all other restaurants we understood that 15% was included in the final bill, incl this one. Our waiter pushed for a tip on top of that, pushing us into an embarrassing position and leaving us disappointed.More

We booked Le Plongeoir twice in March and twice they cancelled. Then we had to leave Nice because of lock-down. We came back in July and re-booked. Having been cancelled twice, I asked if they would ensure we had a good table. This is a...spectacular restaurant and obviously some tables are much better than others. I received an email ensuring they would do this. On the day, we dressed up and were excited about our evening. We were shown, without a doubt, one of the worst tables possible....... in direct sunlight while others were given beautiful shaded tables on the other side of the restaurant. It was early so they had the choice of tables to offer us. Our waiter was delightful and professional. A man, who I assume was the owner, made a "grand tour" of the tables. He could see we were hot but did not suggest we move. We were also the oldest people there which, perhaps, was worthy of a little more care and attention. The food was of a good standard and well priced, but not extraordinary. We we ate two courses and left before dessert or coffee as soon as we could because we were so uncomfortable. All in all not a nice experience and we would definitely never go backMore

Open air dining above the sea was great. We weren’t offered the ‘ lunch set menu’ just the a la Carte so ended up paying more for the same dishes which were on both . We didn’t realise until too late when we saw other...guests being brought the blackboard. The first course of tuna was good but disappointed with the risotto which while good and creamy was nothing special for €32. We were also charged twice for service which from the sample menu on the website says is included . On paying with debit card the waiter asked if we would like to add a further 10%. We did so since at that point I didn’t have the menu in front of me to check and the bill had gone overboard in the breeze. Re-checked the website menu when home we saw that indeed service was included so rather cheeky to actually ask for it again. On reflection maybe I should give one star not three as I have done.More

We first visited Le Plongeoir in 2017 and it was amazing. 5* service and fantastic food! It was worth the price tag. Fast forward 4 years and it’s slipped badly. The waiting staff are all wearing t-shirts and tracksuits and would best fit working a...TGI Fridays. For the price you’d expect impeccable service, which just is not the case. We were ushered in quickly after being told we could not drink at their bar because they needed to turn our table round in 2 hours for another sitting, even though we had turned up 20 minutes early for our table. We were going to give this place 3* but after reading reviews it seems the waiter was deceitful about the tipping situation. I asked if it was included and he said “no it’s just the taxes” and insisted very loudly that we pay an extra 10%, which we did. Turns out he was not telling the whole truth and echoed in other trip advisor reviews. Food was Ok, nothing to write home about and certainly not worth the price tag. We cut our losses at €150 after mains and feel we got off lightly. Sadly we won’t be back and would rather spend our money at La Belle Étoile in Villefranche as that is truly a special place to eat.More

All I can say is "wow" when it comes to the location of this amazing restaurant. The view we had overlooking Cap Ferret was brilliant. The food itself was (as expected) mainly a fresh seafood-based menu, excellently presented and well cooked. I would also say...there was a good distance between tables and I did not feel uncomfortable despite the restaurant being full.More

This place has a unic location and it is probably what you pay for. The service was unattentive and mediocre, the food a joke - we had a risotto with vegetables and parmesan and it was a bleak small portion with a minimum av petite...cooked vegetables (carrot, cauliflower and sugar peas) and just one (!) small slice af parmesan cheese. The five lettuce leaves the plate was decorated with blew away in the wind. The view over the sea is magnificent but if you go a windy and cold day (as we did) you have to dress for it. The restaurant can only supply you with a blanket - but we had to ask for it. I am still not sure what they would have done if it would have started to rain. It was like they don´t have a plan B for bad weather. The parmesan was 32 euro and a glas of wine 14 euro. Half the sum would have been more accurate. We were really disappointed over the whole experience and can not recommend anybody to go there.More

We enjoyed our lunchtime meal here, seated out on the old rock with amazing views looking out over the sea. The set menu, although a good price, was very limited and I didn't particularly enjoy the main - it was too cheesy which overwhelmed the...delicate flavour of the fish. The starter (Gazpacho) was lovely though, and the service was good and attentive with the waiters bringing across bread, water and wine regularly. We didn't feel rushed and had a lesiurely lunch, but overall didn't feel the food lived up to the setting.More

This is a must visit as the views are fantastic and it is lovely experience. However, on arrival, the staff were rude and unhelpful. We waited a long time for a table, which we didn’t mind, but found that staff were not very accommodating of...this at all. Once we were seated we ordered drinks which were very nice yet pricey. We also ordered the hummus and flatbread starter to share. When it arrive it was practically thrown onto the table which was again quite rude and the waitresses behalf. The hummus itself was delicious, but the flatbread arrived in a plastic sandwich bag which was extremely distasteful, particularly given the exclusive aura that the bar is trying to achieve. I would recommend to a friend for the views and setting, and would be sure to mention the lack of service and average food.More

Stunning location but a tourist trap! This is simultaneously the worst and most expensive meal that we have had during our 8 years living in France. Octopus (filled with grit) paired with mozzarella, fish filets with strawberries, strawberry jam and tasteless green slime. Entrées arrived...right after the apéros so we had to down them to enjoy the bottle of wine (badly advised when they didn't have the bottle on the menu that we wanted) with our food. The people that get the best seats with an ocean view are those that ask the most rather than first come first serve. There were only anglophones in the restaurant. Complained about the food and the waiters didn't seem to care and did nothing about it. Absolute tourist trap. Can't believe there are so many good reviews. The location is beautiful but best to stay at the lounge bar for a drink or go next door. I've since been told many others have had this experience. Might be better for lunch?More

This was a return visit for us and a first visit for our friend living in Nice as a treat for her birthday. So she was there as our guest. This time the booking system was a pain. I phoned several days in advance but...was not allowed to book but was referred to the online booking form which proved frustratingly inflexible. We could not get our required date for lunch and accepted an early booking several days later causing us to alter existing plans. Also a considerable deposit was taken by card against no show and failure cancel within the restaurant’s required time limit. However, we were finally able to alter the timing of the booking slot, (two hours duration), by phone later. Upon arrival, we were shown to a table to the rear of the upper platform which had an obstructed view of the port and which was unshaded from the direct sun. The waiter was young, did not listen to requests, seemed inexperienced and consequently service was poor. We had to ask for menus, (only got two), were not not shown the specials board, service was extremely slow, and seabass instead of cod was delivered to me in error when my main course arrived. Our guest could not have lamb as she wanted so she chose steak, which she said was tasty but overcooked and not ‘a point’ as requested. Otherwise the food itself was good: courgette flowers were especially lovely and light, cod was a small portion when I finally got it but ok, but we had to wait sooo long for everything. Expensive, so we expected more. However, on the upside, the maitre d’ does come around to keep a weather eye, but really, do diners generally make a fuss when asked how was it? Because they generally diners don’t want to get the waiter in trouble but others were served first. We feel we would have fared better downstairs as the waiters seemed more on the ball and more experienced. Spending this kind of money for lunch should be a pleasure. Basic psychology. Yet on this occasion there were several frustrations. Not sure I will visit again.More

We were really excited to get reservations here but things went wrong quickly. We were met with a very rude hostess that rolled her eyes at us and did not want to assist us with getting seated. Once we were seated we noticed that they...left the olives and bread outside which the Pigeons very much enjoyed. We watched as the Pigeons were diving into the olives and eating them and those same olives dishes were being served to guests. Overall the food was ok but very over priced. We also came at 6:30pm, a mistake on our part, since it was very warm and the sun was blazing. I would really skip this one and just look at the views from the beach or boardwalk.More

We have been here for lunch several times and today did not disappoint. We were late! Owing to the new unfamiliar traffic system in Nice so arrived kerfuffled thinking they would turn us away. Which thankfully they did not. Lovely table, stunning day, stunning views....I don't know what a previous reviewer found wrong with the risotto and the seabream but I thought both were very light and tasty. The fish was perfectly cooked. There is a plat du jour available. The wine was expensive by the glass, and there has been a curious addition of a booking fee since our last visit, which as returning customers, may put people off. I had a grumpy hubby for a while for the few days before. However, we have booked again for a family visit and hope the weather is set fair. Re parking, we were lucky today, but, yes, parking can be very difficult. In the past the lovely waiters have kept an eye on the car for us. The system is cash or Paybyphone. Memorable visit, lovely people. I would rate this as mid-range to high, and good value (apart from drinks).More

Sometimes venues with a stunning location/view aren't that good for food or service as they can rely on the setting for getting customers, but not the case here. Our waitress was great, really friendly and prompt with taking orders, checking in and serving food and...drinks. She explained the menu options and the dishes nicely and in English, thank you. Some of us had the weekday set lunch menu (which is a great price) and some had a la carte, all the food was great and just enough in terms of portion size. Loved the gazpacho and the fish was cooked absolutely perfectly. The view is stunning it's a great place for a special occasion. Don't forget sun screen if you go in the day as not all tables have shade. Would definitely return.More
