Nestled close to the airport and key attractions, Breathless Montego Bay Resort & Spa is celebrated for its prime location suitable for diverse travel plans. While the vibrant atmosphere with live music and entertainment is a hit, some guests find it overly noisy and the decor a touch outdated. The accommodations have received mixed feedback; issues with room cleanliness and maintenance have been a concern, though many have had satisfactory stays. Service at the resort generally garners high praise for being attentive, particularly the butlers, although a few have noted inconsistency. Value perceptions vary, with certain guests lauding the exclusive amenities and experiences, but others questioning the cost relative to the services received. The amenities, including the variety of dining options and the bonus of accessing neighboring resorts, are a highlight for travelers.

We just came back from a week at Breathless Montego Bay.

The resort is compact with lots of dining and entertainment options due to the fact that guests have access to the adjacent Secret resorts which are a short walk away. The beach is broken up by many rocky outcrops so don’t expect to go on extra long beach walks. There is a sidewalk that follows it and circles the property to get your steps in.
We paid for the exhale club level and were treated like VIP’s from our butlers McCoy and Leon. They reserved our beach/pool chairs daily, served us jerk chicken at lunch and made our nightly dinner reservations. All staff were friendly but as on any trip, a few always stand out. Our favourites were Nepaul at the roof top bar, Kellesia at the pool bar and Rick James in entertainment.
We were a group of 6 and the younger 4 throughly enjoyed the foam parties and the 24hr room service!
The rooms here are all hi-tech so there is some trial and error learning how to operate it.
My criticisms are minor but management can strive to do better in these areas. Cleaning staff often didn’t leave hand towels or bath mats. A few times our room was not cleaned until very late in the day. Pool towels were delivered to the rooftop pool and the beach late morning but were plentiful. Access to the rooftop was supposed to be limited to exhale club members between 10-6 but was not.

My major complaint was that all three resorts did not have mint or limes 6 of the 7 days we were there! I was so looking forward to drinking my favourite mojitos but alas I had to compromise. 🍹I would advise management to grow mint somewhere on the massive property as it is so easy to do! Supply problem solved 😉
We came to relax, recharge, and enjoy the sun. Mission accomplished!
Overall we had a memorable trip and a great start to 2020!

I just returned from Breathless which my fiance and I chose as our destination wedding location. It absolutely exceeded expectations. the rooms are fabulous, modern and romantic, the views of the bay are stunning. the beach area is beautiful and relaxing. the food is delicious and fresh, drinks are tasty. They make traveling during covid a breeze - constantly sanitizing, the resort looks and feels clean at all times. Our wedding location was amazing and the wedding coordinator Nekeisha was excellent at helping us achieve our vision and having the wedding of our dreams. we had over 40 people in our party and yet the resort was not crowded, it felt like we had the place to ourselves. the pools are stunning and clean, the staff is so friendly. Jason the front desk manager was very kind and helpful in managing all the last minute room changes we had. All the servers and bar tenders were great, I can only remember Tackeisha and Whitney's names. the rooftop pool, bar, resteraunt are fabulous. the location of the hotel is close to airport and downtown montego bay. best vacation ever!!

Great resort for a vacation getaway. Our group of 5 traveled here for a relaxing week break from the pandemic, we were not disappointed. We got picked up at the airport by TCJ Tours, can I say excellent service and very friendly staff. I would highly recommend them to setup your airport transfers. The resort looks very modern, the room decor is gorgeous and so comfortable, hot water, soft beds and pillows. The food here tastes authentic and well prepared. You can see the passion the chef puts in his meals, very well plated and so delicious. The pools were enjoyable and so was the beach. Not like the beach in Negril but still enjoyable. We had access to the Secrets property which we liked as a bonus perk for our trip. Regarding Covid, we felt safe here the moment we arrived, everyone wore masks even at the airport. There were sanitizing stations throughout the resort and the resort was always being cleaned. We had a great trip here and would return.

We were 2 couples staying Jan 4th to the 18th. We have experienced many AM resorts but this was our first Breathless resort. The rooms are large but starting to show their ‘party’ wear and tear. The large glass shower leaked in both rooms. The furniture in the rooms is for little people with the exception of a high top table (ours was broken and unusable) making eating room service impossible..had to eat on bed! The maid service was spotty with our friends having to call 3 times one day to get their room cleaned. The nightly turn down service was mostly a miss and if we received it varied greatly: sometimes towels, sometimes water, sometimes chocolate etc.
The restaurant service and food was efficient and good. The beach on the Breathless side could do with a good raking. There is a Hard Rock Cafe restaurant right beside the beach and when they are in full swing during the day you cannot hear yourself. The a Breathless beach restaurant was a joke, several items on a 10 item menu were unavailable but we were not advised of this until we went to place our order. No top shelf booze available here either. They say the Breathless resort is for Breathless visitors only but that is not enforced. Nobody asks when crossing between Secrets and Breathless (heard serveral Secrets people bragging how easy it is to dine/drink in the hotel. It is a small resort so when the Secrets people show up there is no room for the Breathless people, not good! The pool area is small and the 2 staff who deserve all the praise go to Owen and Cory. The place would fall apart without them. Hats off to these 2 for their hard work ethic. The bar/food service around the pool is almost non existent. They have one server and one trainee. The main server is overwhelmed and they should look into hiring people to serve the guests. We definitely expected better bar service. I was offered a food menu on our last day! The entertainment staff were nice and friendly. We were in Jamaica our favourite island and had a good time but I doubt we would return to this property. It’s not the people but the lack of management intervention and attention to details that is lacking.

Short version: Very sad that we picked this resort. Don’t expect to see a smile from the staff. Forget the room pictures and patio hot tub (which can’t be used anyway due to lack of privacy and noise) and stay at Secrets!
Overall very disappointing… We planned and saved for a true 4-5 star experience. After all, it was our 20th wedding anniversary which our travel agent wrote in the notes, and I emailed in advance to Breathless directly as this was a big trip for my wife and I. I even told the front desk staff that we were so excited and it’s our 20th anniversary upon arrival! They did not care. No door banner or anything like we read in other reviews and saw on others’ doors.
As a professional in sales and understanding customer service, if I were asked what the issues are with this resort? It was obvious to me that no one cares! The only staff we felt were nice or even smiled were people expecting or looking for tips. I can’t help but wonder if this hotel chain might be guilty of not paying very well? For what’s being charged, they should care! At the very least, this resort has a serious issue with morale. My guess is this is a sinking ship of a resort.
We tried to be extra friendly and tip a little over the average to get better service, but honestly if you’re over 35 years old, and know what friendliness and customer service is, then don’t stay here.
Upon getting back to our room on the first night we found multiple hairs in the bed indicating to us that clearly the sheets were not changed. The young lady who finally came to change the sheets was nice enough and allowed me to help her, but we waited over an hour which was annoying when we had been traveling all day and just wanted to rest.
We found that none of the USB ports worked in the room. By our last night there it was corrected after we saw an “engineer” assisting in the room next door and asked for their help. Those guys were great. Came and handled the issue in a timely manner.
We had phantom issues with the lighting in the room. You can’t just flip a switch and turn a light on. Everything is connected to panels or the tablet. It’s super annoying to have to use your phone flashlight t in the middle of the night to use the bathroom because the stupid panels or lights aren’t working properly, in a room that is supposedly 5 stars.
The food at Secrets side was very good and we did enjoy the Altitude bar/restaurant at Breathless. The rest of the Breathless food left a lot to be desired.
We did appreciate that you get access to the “preferred ” beaches of Secrets if you’re staying at Breathless.

We would NOT recommend Breathless!

Pros
Nice views ,helpful staff and the ability to go next door to secrets resorts to enjoy their offering. Secret box so no contact delivery and room service is awesome. The inside of the room is Breathless indeed. Modern and spacious. 5 stars for inside the room. 3.5 star for the food, overall value for money .

Cons

Well those will detail below.

This property is a bit overpriced for the current offering during covid19. The resort itself is VERY SMALL. Yes the view is Breathless but thats all there is to offer a few lit pools at nights and some foam.

During covid19 alot of the restaurants were closed and the buffet was offering such limited food that it made better sense to just order in room. The secret box is nice tho as thats where they deliver ur room service
-no contact. I believe that to be transformational and the industry should follow suit.

I think the prices should be halved for the resort. If I should compare it with the rest I've visited this is below par for the price. Not sure why they priced it so high. Stayed a few nights but was left disappointed.

Food seems to be a running issue tho and it felt as tho they were running out of food for everyone as there isn't a reason why the buffet had such limited options. I actually cook more for breakfast serving wise for me and my children than what I saw on some of those plates.

Its like they make the options so small to ensure persons weren't tempted to ask for more. Plus when you go for food they assume how much you want. That's how I feel. One piece of sausage and just small services. Felt like I was at a shelter to be honest. This fad about covid19 making the need for someone to serve you makes no sense. They could give disposable gloves to persons to take out their own food.

We all wear masks already.

Overpriced and they really need to half their price. Not worth it to me and this is my personal experience.

Let me start by saying the hotel is gorgeous, and the entertainment/food is some of the best I have had at an all inclusive. And the staff Timon, Carlos, biggs, Rick james to name a few are amazing.

But...the thing is, it is the little things that make a good vacation great. Here are my issues...

1. The maid literally walked into our room to my wife NAKED getting ready after a shower. This was even AFTER we told her we were in the room when door initially opened.
2. Speaking of maid service our room was only cleaned a few times as we came back to our room everyday at 4:30pm and maid service was offered after. We tried requesting an earlier time on the in room tablet, but it never was acknowledged.
3. Tablets in the room. On a surface level it seems cool to control everything (lights, curtains, etc) via a tablet but when I just want to turn off lights or open a curtain, having to grab a tablet and wait for it to load is a pain. Let me flick a switch or open the curtains manually.
4. Chairs - there are maybe 60 seats around the pool and another 60 at the beach. Far to few for a resort of this size. Combine that with most being reserved by butlers at 7:30am leaves finding ANY seats after 9am impossilbe.

We stayed at Breathless Montego Bay for 7 nights and finished our trip with 2 nights at Secrets Wild Orchid Preferred Club. We really wish we had done this the other way around as we much preferred our stay at Secrets.

I think it's because of COVID but the activities and ambience at Breathless were really lacking from what we expected from the upbeat party resort the brand is known for. We found most of action was over at Secrets.

Although when you stay at Breathless or Preferred Club Secrets Wild Orchid you get full access to all 3 resorts (Secrets St James as well) the location of Secrets Wild Orchid is much better. Breathless is located across the street from the beach - there is a convenient pedway to get there but it's much less convenient than walking out of your building and having the beach right there.

Breathless beach area was nice as it was always very quiet, but this was the rockiest section of beach and would advise having water shoes. As you went down to Secret St James and on to Secrets Wild Orchid the beaches got better and better with the Preferred Club Wild Orchid being the best and sandiest - plus the sunset/mountain view can't be beat!

The views from Breathless rooms are spectacular though, you look out over the water and the mountains. Best of both worlds. The girls at Bare Buns restaurant and bar on the beach were the best! Vanessa and Shenique took excellent care of us our entire stay and really made our trip great!

We did book butler service for our stay at Breathless, but honestly I would not recommend it. We barely saw our butler and when we did ask for things we either didn't get it or were advised how/where to do it ourselves. It was not the experience it was advertised to be and being there on our honeymoon he did not go out of his way to make us feel special. The butler service at Secrets seemed MUCH more attentive and inclusive.

We really appreciated the Honeymoon package that the hotel added on for us though, the couples massage and romantic dinner on the beach were absolute highlights for us!!

I'm not sure if they have different cleaning products at Breathless vs Secrets but I found whenever I was in the room at Breathless I was constantly congested - we would go over to Secrets and it would alleviate but as soon as we were back in our room at Breathless it would come back. I didn't have the issue the last 2 nights at Secrets but am unsure what caused this,

Overall, OK stay but preferred Secrets by far!

We stayed at the resort for 4 days and we had endless issues, the premium alcohol was only available at specific bars and they have limited amounts very misleading, secondly the alcohol is not whats in the bottle. The service was awful it took 1 hour to get food and they cut every corner on food availability like meat items they just say they don’t have it, how can you be out for 4 days. The rooms are nice but they don’t give you conditioner in the rooms and don’t provide you basic amenities even when you ask for them they are not available.

I could go on but STAY ELSE WHERE may options available in the area

Staying at Breathless Jamaica Resort was the worst experience I've had being my 4th time to Jamaica. The first day of arrival maintenence had to be called to fix the shower curtain. The room had a mildew smell, moisture buildup n the bed. The refrigerator was empty then the water bottles, soda & beer that was delivered were warm with the ice machine being out of service on the 3rd floor. Housekeeping did not leave towels and wash clothes on 3 different days. The Fish net bar waitress female staff said to me that the joke that the bar tender was saying was not funny with a unfriendly attitude. When asking for something some of the female staff stared at my girlfriend & I like we had 3 heads before answering us as if they did not want to do thier job. While being seated at the itailian restaurant we asked the host for a paper menu, she responded yes but never brought the menu to our table. Our empty water glasses were not refilled the same as the other tables. We arrived at the French resturaunt that close at 10 and we were turned down at 920pm, the host claimed they were overbooked. The service wait time at the blue mountain restaurant was an unacceptable long wait to just order drinks and also recieving our food order. One night the waiter forgot our appetizer order and brought it out after we received our dessert. The 24 hour room service menu is limited and the pizza looked and taste like elementary cafateria food. One day the pool station ran out of towels. The restrooms throughout the resort were not maintained. In addition the caterman cruise to Margaritaville rushed everyone only giving 30 mins to enjoy the excursion. After receiving our curry goat food order at the bluminous tour with hardly any meat on the bones, we were rushed to return back to the bus so we had to eat goatless meal on the bus on way back to hotel. On the hipstrip a jamaican local that was standing on stilts did not give my girlfriend back change from her $20 for taking pictures with us. Overall, I will not be returning back to this resort in my future stay to Jamaica.
