December 6, 2020- I've been told for a year this is the place to go for a great meal. It is right on the beach by the pier and I was reluctant because it seemed like a tourist trap. I WAS WRONG! The food was...great, the service was excellent, the staff was very very friendly and they bent over backwards to make sure everything was perfect! The prices were very reasonable and I even looked at the lunch/dinner menu and it looked great with good prices too. My waiter was Jacinto and the helper was Mesero ( hope I got this right). I rent out a condo in PV and I will recommend this place to my renters. I will be back!! Thank you for the great meal and see you very soon!More

Great setting on the beach. Excellent service (the changed umbrella twice so we wouldn’t be in the hot sun). My wife didn’t expect fish w/ spaghetti and they replaced it with new order w/ chicken w/out charge. Large quantities of food and low price! Vegetarian...fahita was only $6.50 and amount of vege’s was enough for 3 meals!More

I've been watching Cuates y Cuetes live webcam for years, and have passed the place many times, but never actually stopped to eat here. This year, since we were staying less than a block away, we stopped in there several times. The location is awesome,...right on the beach next To Los Muerto;s Pier. The first visit, we basically sat at one of there tables on the beach for drinks and listened to the live music. The second time, we stopped in for lunch, after getting back from a fishing trip, and I had the "Mexican" plate" which was delicious, with enchilada, poblono pepper, quesadilla, etc. The last time was the night before we left, when I had the beef fajitas and my wife had the fish tacos. Both meals were excellent, and the margaritas were great as well. Plus we got to listen to several musicians on the stage, playing Mexican music. It was GREAT!!More

We have eaten at Cuates Y Cuetes many times while visiting Puerto Vallarta and usually had a good to average time. We love the location. Seeing the pier at night, beach and watching the beautiful sunsets are enjoyable especially if you have good service and...food. But this time, service and food was poor. Maybe they were over run or short of staff, but we had to wait quite a while after being seated before we were able to order a drink. Then once we were able to order, we got the wrong food after waiting for too long, when our food did come, it was cold. Had to track the waiter down to get the bill which seemed to be way over priced even if the meal had been good. Not sure if we will try eating here again.More

Three of us ate here last night, soup, a club sandwich and a shrimp dish. When presented our bill the waiter said the total is written on the top. Out three order papers were stapled together and on the top was what you see in...the first photo 1855. Fortunately we weren’t drunk and thought “that seems pretty high”. I crossed referenced the menu, added in our few drinks and the price was 855 pesos. This waiter puts a / in front of his numbers, I asked him if it was eighteen hundred and fifty five pesos or 855, he agreed 855. Unwary people would probably throw down 2000 pesos, he pockets 1000. It is hard to say if this is a problem with just one waiter or systemic to the restaurant. All the other waiters seemed to know what was going down when I wasn’t willing to leave my bill with them. You have to wonder why a tourist focused restaurant which served hundreds of people per day at tourist prices doesn’t have an electronic billing system whereas almost all other restaurants we have eaten at do. This is cash only and all on poorly hand written chits. Buyer beware.More

My wife used to love this place but the service and the food was a big let down. The waiting staff was nearly invisible. I had some soup that had so much salt as to seem it was made from seawater. My wife loves chili...releno but would not eat the one she had this day. We will not be returningMore

I've been a patron of Cuates y Cuetes for years now and I'm thrilled to be back this year and see how the owners and team have bounced back so wonderfully from the spring/summer covid closures. While following proper precautions, the team here makes us...so welcome to enjoy their unique and authentic Mexican cuisine. And they've managed to put together great entertainment in their open-air space. I'll be a regular again this season. The Mexican platter and the Swiss enhiladas are my favorites hereMore

Don't let the casual look of this place prevent you from eating here. It was one of the best breakfasts we had during our week in PV. The location is great to people watch and enjoy the sounds of the ocean. Two of us had...eggs and chorizo and it was the best chorizo - very flavorful! This place is a great option for a reasonably priced breakfast!More

Sadly, this place seems to have fallen from previously high standards in quality and service. Prime location for viewing sunset and the beautifully lit pier, BUT... we waited and waited and waited for dinner to arrive. It seemed to take forever. Several diners around us...simply got up and left. Our waiter was super apologetic, as the kitchen was obviously in a state of chaos. Food, mediocre; margaritas, excellent. Will not return.More

Really lovely! Reasonably priced, for its location (right on the beach) with tasty, fresh-cooked foods. The child (fries to Americans) were hot and fresh, the tacos delicious. The décor was bright and lovely, the service friendly. Really enjoyed coming here on my first night in...Puerto Vallarta - set a colourful and happy tone.More

I have visited this restaurant regularly over my PV visits these last 8 years. The location is great for sunset dinning with a view of the moored boats and the activity on the pier. It seems to have been slipping in quality and service. Lasts...evening I had an interest beef broth and garlic soup a new experience however the entree was disappointing . I frequently order pan fried Red Snapper. Last evening it was over cooked, dry and therefore hard to get off the bones and to chew! Almost tasteless. They do steamed vegetables which are usually in the French fashion, colourful and crunchy. My previous visit the calamari was dry and crunchy almost like pretzel sticks.More

Had a great breakfast here. Everything was so fresh and the staff very friendly. Sat on the beach which made it even more enjoyable. Our waiter, Jacinto, was extremely kind and attentive without being intrusive. A big plus!! Thank you, Jacinto.

Amazing find! Warning: cash only. Come with pockets filled. I tired this place because I was told that they have the best Chile rellenos and that they serve actual spicy foods such a freshly made salsa and fresh serranos. Indeed, those we amazing Chile rellenos....Also, the restaurant staff are terrific! A special shout-out to Pedro who steered me toward a delicious tequila and tortilla chicken soup that was amazing. Actually, it was all so amazing that I came back for dinner. Dinner was a perfectly and lightly done El Dorado freshly caught fish. Plus, the sunset during dinner was epic. I can’t wait to return to PV and have many more meals at Cuates & Cuetes.More

We found this restaurant waiting for the boat to Yalapa one day. We ordered the Tacos Rosarito de Pollo. You get 3 soft shell tacos that have perfectly cooked chicken with cilantro and onions. We usually split a plate with 2 beers, chips, salsa &...Guac. This is a must try. Note - they only accept cash.More

We usually love the food here but today's breakfast was bad. Green drink was served warm and food was cold. We order the pitanil (construction worker) breakfast and it was more like marinara sauce on scrambled eggs served with cold corn tortillas. The pancakes were...also served cold and too dense and not fluffy and grainy texture. Next time I'll just get bacon and eggs. We love this place but I don't reccomend getting breakfast here.More
