We had tea here on a weekday late afternoon before going on to the theatre fro a show in the evening. We really enjoyed and recommend the Viennese Afternoon Tea. It's deliciously different from the traditional tea served at other West End high-end cafe/restaurants and...in my opinion better value for money too. The old-fashioned decor takes you back to another age.More

We have had a really Superb Sunday Lunch. Three of us had the Roast Beef. Perfectly cooked, moist, almost melted in the mouth! Perhaps the best I've ever had. It came with vegetables and a huge Yorkshire pudding. The service was excellent. Ok the Wolsey...and Delauney are not cheap, but perfectly cooked meals and service are not available in cheaper restaurants. I did not mention the bread...superb and my friend who is gluten free and not a big eater had a second helping of his amazing gluten free bread. Well done The DelaunayMore

Went to the Delaunay mid afternoon Saturday when they were serving a number of menus - afternoon tea & the brunch. It feels like an all day brasserie. The restaurant is a classy operation and you pay for that. I would say that the charges...are definitely on the high side eg charging a cover charge plus 12.5% service. But the service is slick and the food is good. A very reliable restaurant.More

Came here for the first time on Sunday for Vienesse Afternoon Tea - with champagne! We arrived late, but the place was buzzing as we descended the stairs to the elegant dining room, before being seated in a private dining room set for 20 plus...people as members of a private party. The table was bedecked with a tasty array of savoury canapes, cakes and scones with a distinct Austrian theme..all very different to the usual British Afternoon Tea. The Ritz- this is not, but you would be missing a fine dining experience - should you not choose to put the Delaunay on your places to try. Service was excellent, I was very impressed that when it came to ordering from a selection of different tea blends, the waiting staff were able to identify who ordered which blend with ease. Would highly recomend a visit, when next in Covent Garden.More

Perfect afternoon tea! We stopped in here today for an Afternoon tea and it was fabulous from start to finish. It was my mother mid 60’s myself mid 30’s and my daughter 16 months. The staff did not bat an eye lid when I walked...in with a pushchair and a toddler. They seated us in a very sensible location with space for the buggy and high chair and the staff engaged with my daughter by providing her with a menu to look at. We ordered two afternoon teas, one with cakes and one with scones. The tea was hot and delicious as well as plentiful and it was proper tea leaves. The sandwiches were like large canapes rather than sandwiches but that’s fine. They were delicious and a mix of flavours. The scones were perfect soft and delicious served with two sorts of cream and jam. The cakes were perfect. Not too sweet not too big. The staff gave my daughter a plate so she could have some and also placed the tea and cakes away from her so she couldn’t grab them. We were here about an hour and we had a wonderful time. My daughter is extremely well behaved and you wouldn’t have known she was there unless you could see her as she made no noise for the hour. If you have a special occasion then this is the place. Thank you to the staff for not judging my family before we had sat down and eaten and thank you for engaging with my daughter. We treat her like an adult and we would have taken her out had she not been well behaved. At £19.75 a head this is great value!!More

Situated in the Aldwych between the Strand and Fleet Street the Delauney offers beautifully prepared Austrian cuisine. It's a very a large restaurant with a lively atmosphere - if it's a business meeting ask for a side table around the edge of the restaurant. I...had the Wiener Schnitzel a classic Austrian dish and it was fantastic - very large but fantastic. You get the feel of a classic old fashioned London restaurant with wood panelling and booths but with some really interesting and different food. There is a private dining area for about 15 -18 people which is fabulous too for a private party. It's not cheap but it's fabulous food right in the centre of London with great service, I'd highly recommend it.More

The worst of it was a member of staff coming to the table and saying "your food will be with you in just one minute" and then some 10-15 minutes passed with no food. This was poor expectation management and was typical of slow service...albeit on a busy night. The menu seems to have too few decent choices for those wanting to manage their calorie intake. And the chicken soup was served lukewarm, but more to the point, was far too salty, never mind for people who might be nervous on the sodium front. And it is rather pricey, but we knew that. Overall, a slightly harsh AverageMore

My review of afternoon tea is similar to many others. It is Austrian style rather than traditional English. The main difference is no sandwiches, rather 4 savoury canapé-style items per person. The room on a Saturday afternoon in early Fab was packed and noisy though...we arrived about 4.15 and it emptied out slightly before filling up again for pre-theatre dinner. For the price and location, it was good value and enjoyable but not an ultra-special occasion and overall I found it too sweet.More

We have been coming to the Delaunay for years and it’s one of our favourite restaurants in London. Very odd experience lady night - it took 2 hours from sitting to get a main course (especially ironic since we had specifically booked to avoid being...asked to leave after 2 hours!). The head waiter rescued the situation with a free bottle of wine but we can only surmise something went wrong as many tables seated after us were served first. Was our order lost? Really poor notwithstanding the free wine.More

Although we have a well-travelled and “well-socialised” four year old daughter, the thought of eating out past her bedtime and on holiday can still be a cause for anxiety. We were meeting friends at the Delaunay after a matinee theatre show, so we booked a...dinner time Saturday reservation. First of all, the reservation process was seamless, and the reservation agent even took the time to reply to my query regarding whether or not they welcome children at the restaurant (there has been a few around in London from our previous trips that don’t welcome children, which is fair enough). But the Delaunay did welcome children so that was immediately a plus point. Second, although it was extremely busy, we were seated as soon as and we never had to wait for service and the food arrived at a reasonable time. My daughter didn’t have to wait very long and they made sure to always check on her regularly - for drinks or for the next course! Third, the food was great! Our table had the chicken noodle soup, pierogies, schnitzels and a variety of sausages. We thoroughly enjoyed it. And finally, service was faultless. Thank you for making what could otherwise be a stressful dinner situation with a child into something so relaxed and memorable for her. Thank you to the staff for taking the time to interact with her despite how busy it was!More

Came here for Brunch with American friends. Their choice as recommended from his Company Deloitte. Was very unimpressed. They booked for the 6 of us and we were shown straight to our table. Unfortunately the service was very slow and 2 of us had to...send the food back because it was no hot and a third had only warm food but was too hungry to wait for a replacement. The surroundings are pleasant but for what they charged for cold food we will not be going back.More

We booked a table, having received a gift voucher for Christmas. Booking was a good idea as the place was packed on Saturday afternoon! Service was excellent from the moment we entered until we left. The champagne was excellent and the attention to detail was...very good, the content of the food being adjusted for a dietary allergy reason. We both enjoyed the food. The description of ‘sandwiches’ would be more appropriately described as ‘large canapes’ but not an issue as they were delicious. The staff were able to offer some options and also described each item in detail. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will go again!More

Very disappointing visit to The Delaunay. The charming welcome at front of house was the highlight of our visit. However, it went downhill from there. Firstly, there was the 20 minutes wait despite being bang on time. No explanation was offered and no complimentary drink...to compensate for the wait. Secondly, the service was at best indifferent and at worst non-existent. Not once were our glasses replenished with wine. Although I do prefer topping up my own glass, this was the very first time that a waiter made zero effort in this regard. Nor was there any real waiter interaction. Not sure if they were understaffed for the evening. Thirdly, there appeared to be no attempt at COVID social; distancing. The tables were very, very close to each other. Finally, the food. Oh dear, the food was pretty average. The scallops were tasteless and covered in a cheesy, creamy gloop. Th sea bream was overcooked and appeared to have been slapped onto the plate in an unattractive manner. And it was pretty tasteless. The sides? The fries came out lukewarm so I can only assume had been sitting in the kitchen for a while. I'm afraid I will not be coming back here.More

We have been meaning to visit The Delaunay Restaurant for some time, so after attending the London New Year Parade we headed straight there and by chance there was a table available. The restaurant was buzzing, all the staff were attentive and happy. We started...with oysters and Dorset crab followed by the Wiener Schnitzel which was sensational. We will return. Happy New Year!More

Sorry, can't help as we don't drink much wine, but recently a three course dinner for four of us with three beers cost around £230 excluding service. It was worth every penny.
