See RCI for more in depth review. I have been a RCI member for 20 plus years and have stayed at a few different resorts. So let me start by saying I booked this resort back in December through RCI's exchange program for my April stay. I exchanged a 2br 2bath red week gold crown (29 pts)for what I thought was a 2bd 2 bath ocean front (Silver). However, Approximately 3 weeks before the vacation I received a message saying that my room was not Ocean front and across the street from the beach but I could upgrade to a 1 br 1 bath and a fee of 250.00. RCI's pictures of this resort are deceiving and almost a bait and switch. RCI never show the pictures of the resort's hotel across the street. But, because I had already made plans to fly from VA for a nice vacation in florida I upgraded. Upon our arrival after 4pm our room was not ready and was told it would not be ready until 6 pm. They offered us a room on the 2nd floor but did not have a clear view of the ocean. I declined because I paid extra for Ocean view. We also asked since our room wasn't ready and didn't have a car if they could store our luggage so that we could grab a bite to eat. the is no restaurant or bar on site. The manager
would not store luggage for us. We had used Lyft to ride from Airport to resort so we had no car. We were told we could wait by the pool until room was ready. There were no really close restaurants or grocery stores so we had to rent a car which was 1.5 miles away and not available until the following day. At around 5:30 we inquired about the readiness of the room again and it was ready but no one had come to tell us. Our Room (4th floor)was dated but clean with great view of the ocean. Looks like a hotel that has been converted. Tv's were small, there are very few resort amenities, no restaurant or bar on premises or really close by, no traditional workout facility, club house closed, pool only open from sun up to sun down. You will need a car unless you are up to walking a lot, staying at the pool or lay on the beach. Most of the restaurants, grocery stores and activities are at least 1.5 miles away. I recommend the resort purchase a shuttle. We were able to fish from a charter that is close by. The staff was nice.

We sincerely apologize for the disappointment but appreciate the opportunity to explain. I reviewed the resort's RCI profile and I do see that RCI has three pictures listed on their site, none of which show the West building. After realizing this, I emailed RCI and asked how we can go about having more pictures listed. When RCI provides that information to me, then I will be sure to provide them with more pictures. Please be advised that our website has a ton of information regarding our resort along with several pictures of the entire property, including interior shots of several room types. Due to COVID-19, we are under local restrictions which there is no option but to abide by. Some of these restrictions include not holding luggage for our guests in the front desk area and keeping our Clubhouse closed as the county does not currently allow gatherings of more than 10 people. The pool must only be open from sunrise to sunset, as confirmed with the county and reiterated by a pool inspector. We make it very clear to any person that inquires that we highly recommend renting a vehicle while staying here. You are correct that many places of interest are within driving distance, which is the reason this recommendation is made throughout various means, including our website. There is a tiki bar located at the Lighthouse Cove resort, which is approximately 1/4 mile south of Canada House. As far as room readiness, we do apologize, however we are short on staff and the rooms must be deep cleaned per the recommended standards of the CDC. If the resort occupancy is high, then the rooms take an inordinate amount of time to be cleaned, disinfected, sanitized, and inspected by our staff. While not the most convenient option, our priority is safety, and we must do everything we can to ensure our guests' safety, especially in a situation where a room has been occupied for a week, or more, and will be occupied by guests checking in the same day that previous guests have checked out. We mail letters to all owners and guests three weeks before check-in which gives the reservation information and states clearly that rooms may not be ready for occupancy until as late as 6 pm. Unfortunately at this time a room being ready late is out of the control of the resort due to the cleaning and sanitization standards in place during these times of being short-staffed. Your room was called in as vacant and clean at the same time that I was personally checking in other guests outside the front office. When I was finished checking in the guests, I was asked if the room was ready, and I replied that it was ready, and the keys were issued. Had we not been asked about the readiness of the room, the keys would have been issued shortly after the check-in process was completed. In any event, we appreciate the 3-star review but hope you can give us another chance to give you a 5-star stay in the future!

The beach was good, and the pool was a great size with plenty of toys available for the children. We were not happy with the cleanliness in the room and that the cleaning staff never came while we were there. For the amount of points we spent to trade and for this location we expected at least one or two room cleanings in a week minimum.

Heather was great at the front desk along with all of the others throughout the week. The resort provides FREE cabanas at the beach that others charge at or over $20 a day for. Quiet, quaint and comfortable is how this resort is best described. I also appreciate that they lock the gates and the resort can only be entered with a key after hours.

We were hoping to have a nice week at this property. However this turned out to be different. The room (studio) we got was on the ground floor with main access from the service entrance of the hotel. The kitchen appliances are backdated to 80s, the room has no privacy whatsoever unless you keep your drapes shut as the "patio" faces the pathway and the pool. The ceiling of the kitchen/dining area is 7 feet high, and it looks like it has been patched/painted by a kid. When we asked for another room, we were told by the front desk that this is the only type of room we get when booked with RCI, which does not seem to be true. Regarding cleanness- the room was supposed to be sanitized and deep cleaned, but there were multiple uncleaned spots left by the previous guests. Overall I would not recommend to stay over there. After staying for 1 night, we decided to check out and move elsewhere as this is not type of room where you want to have your new years vacation.

Thank you for the review, and we are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. We highly recommend that our guests inquire with the resort prior to their vacations to find out about the accommodations to avoid disappointment. For the week that you stayed with us, we had almost a full occupancy with more rooms occupied since before the days of COVID. We had absolutely no rooms available for any room changes and no rooms available for upgrade. The room you stayed in was located on the ground-floor of our poolside building and because of its location, there may have been some busier foot traffic outside the patio of your room. I am sorry that this disappointed you, but this is simply due to the location of the room relative to the building itself. I was curious about your comment about the kitchen ceiling being "painted/patched by a kid," so I just visited the room you stayed in and when I walked into the unit, I remembered that there are ceiling tiles in this room and nothing looked out of the ordinary. Please email specific comments to info@canadahouse.us so we can look into this further. I am sorry that the level of cleanliness did not meet your expectations. Safety and cleanliness is our highest priority, so I will address this with our housekeeping team. I do see that you checked out after spending the weekend with us, and we sincerely hope that your new location exceeds your expectations. Hopefully you can give us a chance in the future, but please be sure to contact the resort for specifics regarding your assigned unit to avoid disappointment.

We had a spectacular ocean view room. The room had sliding grand glass doors the would open on both sides to enjoy the view without the glass. Our room was very retro cool with a Murphy bed and a pull out couch. It was super clean and the small kitchen had everything we needed to cook. The bathroom was also very clean with clean towels everyday! The linen was also very clean and you can request clean linen everyday if you wish. The staff was above and beyond friendly/helpful. We used one of the gas grills below our balcony. The grill was clean and the resort supplied all of the required grilling tools. We would walk across the foot bridge to the beach and we were rewarded with practically empty beaches. The beach was clean and quite. We had views of the lighthouse and miles of empty beach. The place is a real hidden gem. We are so glad that we stumbled upon it. We are already planning our next trip. We love the Canada House Beach Club!!!

This review is based on our experience in Unit 2006, which is across the road from the main resort - at Canada House West. The resort is in a wonderful location on Pompano Beach with beautiful views of the Hillsboro Lighthouse and yachts moving past. Each location of the resort has a pool, along with grills for barbecuing, and the grounds are well kept. Now for the negatives. Check-in was our worst ever. When you arrive earlier than the 4 pm check-in staff tell you that they will text you when your room is ready. When we did not receive a text, we went to the office at 4 pm to check if our room was ready, and staff did not know because the computer system was down. It took them a while to figure out how to check us and several other guests in. We would suggest that clear downtime procedures be available in the future. We were not provided with pool towels or any instructions on where to park or get to our room. My husband found the only hotel cart (other than shopping carts), and the wheels did not turn well. When he tried to access the elevator it was held up by housekeeping staff the first time, and the second time maintenance had blocked the elevator with trash containers. Our unit had a tiny, not smart television that was difficult to view from the sitting area. The toaster oven and electric can opener were broken. The murphy bed was so uncomfortable that my husband needed to sleep on the couch without opening it up as a bed because the springs were sharp when it was open. One of the washers was broken in the laundry room, leaving only one being functional, but pieces had been broken inside of it, and the table in the room had been broken and taken away. There was no garbage container nearby. We were not provided with any dish detergent, scrubbers, or paper towels for our unit. In summary, we really enjoyed the beach (having to cross Route 1A to access it) each day, but our unit was so uncomfortable we would not stay in it again and would not recommend it to others. The units in Canada House East appeared to be much better.

I traveled solo to visit relatives and stayed at Canada House Beach Resort in the East Building. The Studio was very sufficient with a Murphy bed and a pull out sofa, nice and complete kitchen, plenty of drawer space, great tub/shower combo - all immaculately maintained. The unit was spotless and everything sparkled; it was so well maintained I felt totally safe under the COVID circumstances. The property was also perfectly manicured with lovely shrubbery and flowers. A great place to stay and I will return.

Very nice place, the studio was of good size, had a view to the pool, everything was spotless, pots, utensils, toaster/oven etc. looked like brand new, enough kitchen equipment for 4 people, Front desk attendants very polite and informative, very good international restaurant offer very close to the resort, we went to a German, Greek, Jamaican, Latin and American restaurants all of them very good. The beach at the resort was full of sea wees the same as the water itself, we searched and we found a very close great beach with nice waves and clear water. We recommend this place to every one.

We are so happy that you enjoyed your recent stay with us! We are thrilled that you were to enjoy a few of the many great restaurants that our local area has to offer. You are correct that the beach has quite a bit of seaweed. The city of Pompano Beach contracts with a beach raking service, which clears the seaweed. However, during the summer months, the service is unable to keep up with the seaweed. Our city is undergoing a beach renourishment project and, fingers-crossed, the beach behind Canada House is scheduled to undergo this process in November 2021. We are hopeful that this will help with the excessive seaweed. Please keep in mind that this date can change, depending on the city and their scheduling needs. We are staying for two weeks. Upon arriving we were given a very nice room We have enjoyed watching the wind surfers from our balcony every day. They zip along the ocean right in front of the resort! The manager, Brian and his assistant, Cathy Have been very helpful. All the COVID-19 protocols are in place. They even clean all of the pool lounges and chairs after each use. Our room was very clean when we arrived. We have felt very safe and are enjoying our stay. We did not rent a car so we took an Uber From the Fort Lauderdale airport. And there is a bus stop a couple blocks away from the resort. So we have taken the bus to the grocery store. We look forward to returning in the future.

We have stayed here before, but this place is really going downhill. Filthy coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave. The one pot that we used to boil some water to make coffee, had to be cleaned before we used it. The only thing good that I can say is the bedding and towels were clean. The bed was very hard though. I took pictures of the coffee maker and toaster oven to prove to them that they were in this condition when we arrived....didn't want to find out that they charged us for them. I didn't complain until we left.....we just enjoyed the pool,, which was nice.

Yes, we stayed in a large studio efficiency and there was a full kitchen, with stove and oven as well as dish washer, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster oven, the web site states there is also a full kitchen in the on bedroom units. Hope this helps.
No, there are umbrellas about two blocks down available for rent on the beach.
Our studios sleep a maximum of 4 people, as determined by fire code. We suggest having four people maximum, but a "comfortable occupancy" of two people.
