I booked an early morning flight from Lisbon to London. I was at the gate 10 minutes before the official boarding was announced, and everyone else was there too. I saw a member of staff with a scale arguing with two passengers because he demanded payment for their carry on luggages even though they were not heavier or bigger than the free allowance. The rest of us passengers were stuck behind them, nervous as time was passing by, it was almost 25 minutes before scheduled take off when some people rushed to the gate, leaving him there to argue with those two. The people who checked our passports had also a scale, and the same story continued. They stopped a few passengers, the rest of us escaped. Just as we said “thank God, it's over now”, a third scale by the airplane door, and the person who wanted to check us was way too wild. I didn't have any problem with my luggage, but I was very frustrated with the whole situation, because the plane had just started boarding when it should be flying! We left with fourty minutes delay, and just as I was waiting for a coffee to calm down, I noticed a price list in front of me, which included coffee, tea and refreshments. In a few words they didn't offer us anything, if you wanted coffee or water you had to pay for it – and we are referring to a Star Alliance member. I had used Tap Air Portugal twice in the past, I flew from Athens to Lisbon twelve years ago, and I had the best of memories. It seems a lot of things have changed, that is why I am warning everyone to stay away from that airline, unless there is no other option. Even then be prapared for a nervous breakdown and certainly a delay.…
