Fabulous evening last night. The food, service and wine selection were just perfect. Some dishes will be remembered for a long time. The knowledge and friendliness of the sommelier was as well a highlight. The cheese course is happening in a different venue across the street… which brings additional fun to the experience. Well done to the Team at JAN!

This restaurant is grand for special occasions. Each one of the several courses was incredible with so many layers of taste packed into each impeccable bite and a visual presentation that was totally outstanding. The service was perfect and the setting intimate and elegant. It was truly a special night that will not be forgotten.

We visited the restaurant with friends to celebrate a birthday and had an amazing experience. The minute we walked in from the greeting to being sat down was excellent. There were the little touches like your hands being washed with the rosemary water and the explanation of the menu and wine suggestions was great. Going across the road for the cheese course was something different and the choice of cheese was incredible. The staff and service were impeccable we will definitely be back.

What an experience to eat at Jans restaurant. The food inspired by South Africa is so creative and cleverly put together! The flavours and presentation were just fabulous. Service was really good and we felt at ease and well cared for. We enjoyed the experience of walking to the cheese room and testing all the different cheeses! Also loved the personal touch of a gift and a rusk to take home after the meal experience. Would really recommend booking here 🇿🇦 Dankie Jan!

From the moment you step into JAN, you are transported into a realm of elegance and sophistication. The decor is a harmonious fusion of French charm and African warmth, creating an inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for an exceptional dining experience. Every aspect of the restaurant, from the Baccarat water glasses to the Christofle flatware, reflects a commitment to perfection and luxury.
The culinary adventure began with a refreshing glass of champagne, setting the tone for the indulgent experience that awaited us. We were then treated to a 10-course meal that showcased the culinary prowess of the chefs at JAN. Each dish was a masterpiece, artfully crafted with the finest ingredients and bursting with flavor. From delicate seafood starters to succulent meat mains, every bite was a revelation of taste and texture. Additionally, My husband, a vegetarian, was delighted to find that JAN was more than willing to create a special menu tailored specifically to his dietary requirements.

The food was tasty and beautifully presented. Marie and Lorraine were good and service was fine. I felt that the trip to Maria the cheese room was superfluous and interfered with the ambience of the evening. Also the waitress there was distracted and very curt. We visited on 27 October 2023.
I found the South African wine to be very expensive since the wines on the tasting menu are quite ordinary in SA. I would rather opt for the French wines only. Overall a great experience but a big disappointment was that we didn't get to meet Jan, especially since his friend in Apricale told us that Jan was indeed in Nice. Hopefully we'll get to meet him next time as the evening at Jan was the main reason for our visit to Nice

I was very disappointed. A Michelin star should indicate quality, but this is not the case. The food was bland, we were left waiting between courses and the cheese room was unexceptional, and we had to ask the distracted staff for a drink. On the whole I am surprised they maintain a star, not worth it.

We have been to several 2 star but this was our first 1 star Michelin restaurant. It was disappointing. The food was excellent but not the service. First, they seated us by the kitchen, even though there was another table but they insisted (maybe because we are Americans?). Second, the menu said the main course was fish, so I ordered white wine, but it was beef. Third, the cheese course is across the street, so you don’t have your wine, and I had to ask for water. Fourth, I had to ask the staff for the rest of our white wine to be poured as they were ignoring us. If this was a regular restaurant then the quality of the food would outweigh these issues, but as an expensive Michelin restaurant, it was disappointing compared to the others we have experienced.

This is without a doubt the best dining experience I’ve ever had. From start to finish it was perfect, having the cheeseboard presented as an entire separate building (just across the street) was a highlight, walking in and seeing a grand table laid up with 91 dishes was phenomenal and all of the pairings were so well thought out. The whole tasting menu was impeccable as was the service.

This was one of the best meals I have ever had. I’ve been around a while and eaten at many great restaurants. This was as good as it gets. Amazing service. Fabulous food. Just blown away. A great chef has a special knack for combining ingredients that others may not have thought of, yet they work incredibly well. That is Jan. Every dish would explode in your mouth with flavour. Just loved this restaurant. What a gem.
