Significant severe weather outbreak across the Plains Friday produces nearly six dozen tornadoes, some large and destructive, and scores of large hail and damaging wind reports

  • Severe weather outbreak is again likely Saturday afternoon and night across the Plains States
  • Sunday severe weather outlook—The Plains are again likely to be at epicenter for severe thunderstorms, but some stronger storms may arrive for parts of the Chicago area late in the day or at night
  • Numerous severe thunderstorms are likely with the greatest threat currently anticipated across parts of the central and southern Plains, where very large hail, damaging winds, and multiple strong tornadoes will all be possible
  • Some strong to severe thunderstorms could develop in parts of the Chicago area late Saturday night, especially west and northwest of the city
