Central Oklahoma Reported For Camp Three Weeks Before School Begins

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma football team opened Fall camp Monday morning with 106 student-athletes taking the field at newly expanded Chad Richison Stadium.

Central Oklahoma will train for three weeks before school begins on August 22. The Bronchos open the 2022 season the following week with a Week 1 matchup at Missouri Western scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.

UCO has 56 returning lettermen from last year's squad, including 15 with starting experience. That group also includes All-Region selection Michael Slater, and All-MIAA performers Dylan Buchheit, Daunte McGee and Noah West along with Slater.

The 2022 season will mark the first for Adam Dorrel's time at Central. The head coach was hired in December. Dorrel played at Northwest Missouri before coaching there too, winning three national championships as a head coach in 2013, 2015, and 2016.

Central Oklahoma, which expanded Chad Richison Stadium to a new capacity of 12,000 seats, has six home games there this Fall. UCO opens the gates Thursday, Sept. 8 in Week 2 against Emporia State. The Bronchos also host Northwest Missouri (Sept. 24), Northeastern State (Oct. 6), Fort Hays State (Oct. 15), Pittsburg State (Oct. 29) and Central Missouri (Nov. 12).
