On July 18, Universal Pictures released the trailer for the upcoming musical-made-movie, Cats. The film will feature an ensemble cast with numerous popular actors. Let’s take a look who will star in the movie.
Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella
The singer and actress rose to fame after being a finalist on season three of American Idol in 2004. The star has worked on popular films, Dreamgirls and Sing. Hudson will portray the lead role in Cats as Grizabella, who is known as a lonely cat struggling to fit in with the other Jellicles.
Taylor Swift as Bombalurina
The Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter will play the confident Jellicle cat. The movie marks Swift’s return to the movie screen, after previously starring in the 2014 film The Giver.
James Corden as Bustopher Jones
The late-night TV host and actor will portray the role of the popular street cat.
Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots
The Australian actress, writer, and producer has starred in the Pitch Perfect series, Isn’t It Romantic and Bridesmaids.
Jason Derulo as Rum Tum Tugger
The singer, songwriter, and dancer is known for his smash hits “Wiggle”, “Talk Dirty”, “In My Head”, and “Whatcha Say”. He has also made appearances on So You Think You Can Dance.
Francesca Hayward as Victoria

The newcomer will star as Victoria, who is mainly a dance role with no solo singing parts. Hayward has trained with the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden in London.
Judi Dench as Old Deuteronomy
Most known for her work with the musical Cabaret in 1968. Dench will portray the wise, loved elderly cat for the upcoming movie.
Idris Elba as Macavity
Elba will be portraying Macavity known as the ‘Mystery Cat’. The actor’s other works include Thor, HBO’s Luther, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Infinity War.
Ian McKellen as Gus the Theatre Cat
The star is most known for his roles in Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, X-Men, and The Hobbit.
Ray Winstone as Growltiger
The English actor has starred in numerous films and television shows including The Departed, Scum, Henry VIII, and The Trials of Jimmy Rose.
Robert Fairchild as Munkustrap
