Martin Scorsese's daughter has ended the GoFundMe campaign launched to solicit donations to help her house her many pets while her $1.2million apartment is repaired despite her movie legend father being worth $100million.

Catherine Scorsese, 53, told the New York Post's Page Six that the campaign was 'was never begging anyone for money' and that it was shut down 'because my sister did not want any more trolls commenting on it'.

The campaign, seeking a $30,000 goal, was started on April 3 by Catherine's half sister, Tanya Barach, after Catherine's one-bedroom loft duplex in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, recently flooded with 'raw sewage' after a neighbor put shredded paper down the toilet.

The apartment was said to need four months to complete repairs before it is livable again. While she waits, Catherine has moved to an apartment in Manhattan that is being paid for by her insurance company, but she claims is not big enough for her eight cats and multiple dogs.

The money raised by the GoFundMe campaign was meant to go towards paying to properly accommodate the animals, some of which have special needs, according to Catherine's spokesperson.

The famed director's daughter faced criticism for asking for help when her own family is so wealthy.

But, Catherine told Page Six that she isn't a 'trust fund baby' and noted that the campaign was meant for friends and family to pitch in funds to help her out.

'I am a card carrying member of Local 52 and have been for 25 years and they wanted to help,' said Catherine, a prop master and film production crew member.

She also noted that the campaign had been active for a month and only became headline news after 'some dumb-f**k "insider" decided he didn’t like me because of my last name.'

It's unclear when exactly the campaign was ended, but on Saturday it was listed as 'complete and no longer active' after raising $6,110.

Prior to the campaign being shuttered, Catherine's spokesperson told DailyMail.com: 'This all started as such a sweet, generous offer. Her sister wanted to help her because the insurance company was taking so long.

'She's not begging for money and she is not a trust fund baby either.

'She is an independent woman who has been working in the entertainment world for years.'

Catherine told Page Six via text message that she found it 'amazing that I am being called a "parasite" because my friends and family wanted to help me and I didn’t go running to my daddy for $.'

Catherine bought the Williamsburg apartment in 2007 for $800,000 and it is now said to be worth $1.2million.

When active, the GoFundMe campaign featured photographs and videos of inside her home, revealing the extensive damage done to the apartment following the flooding.

Barach had written that Catherine was in 'dire need' of friends' help.

Martin Scorsese was said to have been aware of the damage, but did not know about the GoFundMe campaign until recently. Her representative could not say whether or not he had offered to pay for her pets' shelter.

'I'm certain that he's a wonderful man and probably has offered, but Catherine is an independent,' the spokesperson said.

'She does not ask her dad for things, she's not that girl. They are not that family,' she added.

Catherine and Barach share a mother, Laraine, who was married to the movie director between 1965 and 1971. Catherine is Martin's oldest child.
