    Don't Skip Castello di Brolio
My husband and I did a private tour and tasting and it was the highlight of our trip. We are avid wine drinkers and we've done many tours throughout the U.S. This place is special. The tour was amazing and the wine was delicious. I HIGHLY recommend doing the private tour where you get to do your tasting inside the family's dining room. We also visited Antinori in Chianti which won best winery in the world last year. Castello di Brolio far out-shined Antinori. And the restaurant set among the tall trees was a whole other fantastic experience. Service, setting and food were all top notch.

    Garden visit & wine tasting
We stopped for lunch at the bar & had the meat & cheese platter which was lovely. We then decided to go up to the Castle, (it's a very steep climb in the heat!). We paid €7 each to visit the outside of the castle & Gardens which were lovely. Included in the price was a free sample of wine in the wine shop. Worth a visit

Forever Views Away from the Crowds
Visiting the castle will be among our fondest memories of Tuscany. We arrived in the late afternoon in search of wine tasting and were drawn to the castle above. Our garden tour ticket allowed us to visit the lovely grounds and stroll along the perimeter of the castle where the panoramic views of the region are stunning—like a painting. Rays of light were streaming through the clouds as thunder rumbled in the distance. Church bells rang in the distance. We had almost the whole grounds to ourselves. This is an authentic experience and even more photogenic as tourist spots such as San Gimignano, which was overrun with people. What a lovely surprise!

    Unique Winery in Tuscany
This was one of our favorite winery visits out of many. When booking a wine tour, I look for an unique experience. We have been to hundreds of wineries around the world and this is one of my favorite. This winery supplied a great adventure and tour! Stefano our guide, was so informative and fun. Salute Stefano! We enjoyed every minute with him. We did the “Prestige Tour” and I would do it ten more times! Ha! Wine was good and even the honey I bought on a whim! True gem!

Legendary and stunning! Don’t miss it!
Our last winery in Chianti, Brolio Castle and Ricasoli winery were a top highlight of our 2 week trip! We had a reservation for the Classic Tour in the morning which included a castle and grounds tour, a tour of the winery and a lovely tasting in a formal setting in a beautiful room. The parking was a little difficult in a small gravel lot when at the end of the tour of the castle we all took turns turning around to drive to the wine tasting building which had a large lot. The tour and history of the Castle and the winemaking were exceptional and we learned a lot. The views from the castle are stunning! The family chapel was intimate and beautiful where we even were able to walk down the stairs to the family crypt. You walk the castle grounds and ramparts and then get to enjoy the winery tour as well. After the castle tour with a wonderful tour guide, we drove to the winery tour building and wine tasting building (which were beside each other) and we had the same guide. The production is large here and very professional and yet the tour was personable. It was very interesting to see the behind-the-scenes for such a large winery. We then walked through the tasting room which was very crowded into a lovely, quiet, pre-set table of wine glasses and water ready for our tasting. We enjoyed our guided wine tasting experience very much and bought wines to ship home with very jolly ladies who also let us taste their delicious olive oils that could be shipped as well. A top experience we would highly recommend! So glad we didn’t miss it!

So, I will start the review by telling you that the Grand Seletzione di Castello di Brolio is my favorite ever Italian red wine but booking the sunset tour was the worst mistake I did in my many visits in the area. First of all, even if the tour guide was super nice the visit was only 40 minutes long because the others in the group were late. Second of all, despite the stunning castle and the stunning view from the gardens, the short and speedy tour had nothing to do with wine but only with the history of the Riscasoli family wich wasn’t that interesting. After the short 40 minutes we headed to the restaurant for the “tasting” and the dinner. I must recall that we payed 70 euros each for this joke of a tour. So, the so called tasting consisted in a very small amount(about a tenth of a glass) of the worst two wines produced here. The rose wich costs around 15 euros a bottle but it’s one of the worst roses i ever put my lips on and a sip of chianti clasico(aprox 20 euros a bottle) from two years ago wich was still to acid to be enjoyed. I must insist that we payed 70 euros Each for this. The dinner was more than terrible. Gnocchi super overcooked, a main course where they massacred a fillet mignon by drying it in the oven like amateurs. In the middle of the dinner we decided to leave because 2 sips of mediocre wine and terrible food are not my kind of evening in Chianti. Even if I will continue to buy the Grand Selezione from Castello di Brolio from my local cavist I will never step foot near this place. Literally the worst way to spend an evening in Chianti if you know a thing or two about wine and food.

Recommend the classic tour which takes you on a guided tour of the castle, grounds, wine making and ends with a tasting. Vera our guide was tremendous and full of stories and some good humor. The view from the castle are awesome and we also witnessed a bit of grape crushing on our tour. Wines are very good but this is a mass production company based smaller places throughout Chianti

This was a terrific experience. The oldest wineries in Italy. We booked the classic tour 35€ pp online weeks ahead. Susannah our tour guide with a German accent was an excellent guide to the castles history the winery production and the tasting session. The 90 minute tour was much longer and comprehensive.

nice castle in the Chianti region. A good walk and a good pause while travelling for a day trip in the region. Wine is excellent and the Osteria is a good place where to stop. Also the Agribar down the road is an excellen place for a "tagliere Toscano" a set of Tuscan antipasti to share with csome Chianti.

We had one of the last sunset tours of the year, at the end of September. The tour starts at 6 PM and continues about an hour. It’s necessary to book online (and prepay) in advance as it gets fully booked (there are 20 people in the group). Stefano, our guide, was very nice and had a couple of jokes up his sleeve. He took us around the property, giving us some info about its history and then to the family chapel where Ricasoli members are buried, including Bettino Ricasoli, the creator of Chianti wine recipe. After that we visited a couple of rooms that are arranged as a museum, very interesting. The tour ends on a spectacular terrace that is huge and beautiful and absolutely breathtaking!!! During the sunset it’s a view worth the trip! I’m sure this terrace is beautiful at any time of the day but with the golden light of the sun, it was quite magical. Really recommended. Too bad there is no wine store to visit after to buy some wine. But the experience includes the dinner at their Osteria where you are offered three wines with your meal. We liked that as well.

Worst experience of our entire trip to Italy! If you're expecting anything remotely connected to wines or a winery experience, this is not it! The tour was boring and long, and way too expensive for the so'called "bargain", and the concierge at the La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort Siena, Curio by Hilton definitely didn't do us any favors sending us to this place! It was tortuous all the way around! Whatever you do, Don't get the sunset tour with dinner! It was the most disgusting food and a total waste of time! We sat for over half an hour waiting for our food and they couldn't even get it right after several tries! Waiter were rude. We ended up walking out! A totally disappointing and horrible experience! If you're into boring castle tours and a not so friendly or delicious food experience, then you'll love it!

We visited Castello di Brolio for the Classic Tour and a "light" lunch. The lunch was incredible, but it was quite a filling meal (I think "light" is a relative term). The tour was fantastic - gorgeous views, interesting history, and excellent wines. This was one of the highlights of our trip.
