I have been plannig this trip for a while and knew exactly what I wanted. Rented the White R34 GTR and it was everything I wanted. The nostalgia of driving that car up near Nikko at the mountain pass and down into Tokyo across Rainbow bride and seeing Tokyo tower was exactly what I wanted to do. Omoshiro was easy to work with and will definitely rent from again when I go back to Japan. The one thing i recommend is plan ahead and know your times!

Had a great time with my wife driving around in my dream car, a Nissan R34 GTR in Bayside Blue. We booked it for two days, driving up to the mountains the first day, then back to Shinjuku, Tokyo to our hotel for the night, then out into the “countryside” for some sight seeing and cruising around enjoying the different atmosphere Japan offers over Australia. The outside of the car was cosmetically decent, being an over 20 year old rental car with over 300,000kms on the clock. Inside showed its age, a worn shifter, steering wheel, and front seats that had seen better days. Mechanically the engine was decent, still had plenty of grunt and power behind the motor, and boost came on hard, pulling you back into the seat. Suspension was stiff, so definitely felt the bumpy road.
When picking up the car they go through a walkaround to show any existing damage, make sure to go around too and point out anything extra you see, just to cover yourself. The worker will mark this down on his paper, and that gets signed that you agree. There were a few things I picked up on that he didnt, and may have had them say it was my fault when i brought it back, so best to just go around with them. I didnt have any issues, but always good practice on a rental car, especially one this old
The only major annoyance was the lack of being able to get an ETC card for tolls from Omoshiro Rentacar, which means you cant get one at all, unless youre a Japan resident. Other rental companies that rent out the run-of-the-mill cars (not classic japanese cars) rent out ETC cards that then you pay the tolls you used when you drop back the car. This may mot affect everyone, as many tolls around the outskirts of Tokyo allow card/cash payments at the toll booths through certain lanes, but within Tokyo, there are many tolls the are ETC only, meaning if you drove up to them, you cant get through the boom gate, and you cant turn around, and will have a heap of very angry drivers lined up behind you. This ruined my plans for the 2nd day, as I wanted to take the bridge over Tokyo Bay which is toll only, but could not find a toll entrance that wasnt ETC only, so after alot of stress trying to drive around, I gave up and drove outside of Tokyo where tolls were much easier to find cash/card booths. Omoshiro does provide a laminated sheet which sort of shows entries that are ETC only, but deciphering it and working out where to go to get to that toll entry was a headache in itself
When booking the car, make sure the credit card name you used to book matches the name on the passport and both domestic and international license you will present when picking up the car, otherwise you've wasted your time and will lose money, and bring all 3 of those along with you.

If you’re looking to rent some classic Japanese cars, I would advise against using Omoshiro. Me and some friends rented 3 cars, an RX7, an R33 GTR and an EVO 10. All three cars had various issues which directly impacted the experience we had.
My RX7, with the following problems was the best of the three cars. The gearbox was fine other than 5th gear which would make a horrible noise while driving so I spent the whole day treating it like a 4 speed. The engine ran very poorly and struggled through the rpm and was the drivers door card had a piece of poorly fixed plastic which rattled like crazy and there was a horrific squeaking at the rear of the car somewhere. The car would also heavily pull to the right when braking.
The R32 wouldn’t boost and struggled to pull away property on top of having a bad clutch you had to fight to get it into gear and the AC didn’t work. I didn’t drive it much so I don’t have much more detail than that.
The EVO 10 had a very bad clutch and would slip constantly. Other than that it was fine but obviously a slipping clutch is horrible to deal with especially in Tokyo.
As is standard with any rental place, you consent to any fees regarding various levels of damage to the cars during your rental, regardless of whose fault. This is fine. What isn’t fine, after a certain point is the cars are obviously not repaired after people damage them. So they charge you but don’t look after the cars cosmetically. I can deal with that, tho I don’t agree with doing business like that.
The interior of the RX7 was cosmetic but caused a headache while driving having to listen to that.
What I cannot tolerate is the lack of proper maintenance on the vehicles. Perhaps the new cars they rent out would be fine until they start to go wrong, but the old cars are absolutely awful from our experience.
Also it’s worth noting that although I do not regret attending Daikoku PA in these cars as it was a great experience, it is very obvious that Omoshiro cars are not welcome there and get laughed at. Understandable as they are in bad shape and locals must see them ALL. THE. TIME. The event is flooded with tourists as it is so I get why some people are fed up of seeing the same rentals showing up.
The company also cancelled my friends booked car (R33, booked like 3 months in advance) the day before we were due to drive them and offered absolutely no reasoning, discount or anything other than “choose other car” of which they had none. The other R33 they had was booked after my friend booked his but they chose to cancel my friends. So much for first come first served.
I expect my friends will get round to making their own reviews soon if any further insight is required for you readers. I hope you take my review into consideration when booking.

We rented the EK9 Civic Type R for a week in November 2019 and had such a better time with a fun car over just renting a regular rental. The age does show on a rental car this old, but I don't think there is any avoiding this. I noted a couple minor mechanical issues to check after we brought it back (primarily a noise from the rear suspension), but the car ran like a top for a week straight and it was a blast to drive within obviously safe limits, so we were happy.
Our journey started at the Noda head office and we traveled to Tsukuba Circuit, Motegi Twin Ring, Nikko, Akagi, Ikaho/Haruna, Hakone, and Yokohama. By the end I didn't want to give the CTR up with so many memories gained in the previous week.
The staff were very helpful and friendly although it can be a bit tricky since none of them speak English. They do have English forms to fill out and English signs around to help fumble through it but I would plan to be there for maybe 30minutes to an hour to be safe during pick up. Drop off was extremely quick. It is a good 20 minute walk from the train station which doesn't sound like much until you're hauling 2 weeks worth of luggage along, so keep it in mind.
We look forward to using them again in the future as they have a huge selection of vehicles to work with your needs.

I have just returned from my trip to Japan and renting a car from Omoshiro Rentacar in Noda was a fantastic highlight. I originally booked the AE86 for a 6 hour drive as that is the limit, but due to engine trouble it wasn't available the day of my booking. The staff contacted me relatively quickly and gave me options for other cars to drive, so instead I picked the MR2.
The car was great fun to drive and well looked after, I'm glad it was available on the day. I spent the 6 hours driving up to Mt. Tsukuba and back with my girlfriend, which was a good day trip in Autumn from the head office location. The staff were fantastic, had great English and were very kind and hospitable.
I advise booking well ahead and being prepared with passport, international driving permit and license as well as an understanding of driving in Japan.
Overall I had a great experience, although not the desired one originally it was still really fun and hit the spot for driving an old car in Japan. Thank you, I will definitely be back!

My fiance, a car fanatic, rented the GTR-R35, which was unfortunately involved in a collision the day before our rental date. The company was happy to provide us a substitute, and even referred us to an alternative car rental company so that we would eventually rent the car of his choice. The other car rental company's website was not so easy to navigate, but OMOREN actually offered to assist with the booking. They are such kind people! FYI, they use an electronic translator to help with communication. Sometimes, the translator doesn't always work perfectly, so try rephrasing what you're saying, and maybe the translator will translate it more coherently.
Omoren has very reasonable rental rates when taking into consideration that there is no mileage restriction, which means you can drive to Hakone or Mt. Fuji.
They are very thorough with the process, and explain everything -- from the signage on the highways (i.e. which toll lane to drive through), the type of gas used, and the limitations of the insurance (if you're reckless, your policy is void).
I truly appreciate the thoroughness in their care of their customers. They even offered to take pictures of us with the car we rented and e-mailed it to us!
On our next visit to Japan, we do intend on renting from Omoren again and driving further out.

Wasn’t really happy in regard that I reserve an GTR V spec about a week ago saw that it’s available instead on the day of collection received and surprise email stating that my booking has failed not explaining the real reason as to why it has failed they actually prepared another GTR for me well can’t blame that if it met with an accident
Overall experience was great had a fun drive with the R34 and everything was good staff was friendly to explain everything in details to me and making sure I understand clearly of all rules.
If you do not take the car to speed or race you’re actually quite fine with it.
My dream of driving an R34 was simply completed a thumb up to the manager!

Driving Hakone turnpike, near MT Fuji, and through Tokyo at night, was one of the best experiences of my life, it is a shame we couldn't go to Daikokufuto to take a look because the cops had already closed it.
Still, the service was excellent and the price was fair, i'm already planning to come back for more.

We rented an R35,R34 and a Supra over a week period. Cars and staff were amazing.Very EZ process at pickup and drop off. No damage concerns whatsoever. My 16 year old daughter and I drove about 2500 kilometers without issue. I had considered doing the Fun 2 drive rentals in Hakone and am SO GLAD we went this route instead. Way more bang for the buck and I didn't have to leave my passport as ransom.

今回ランボルギーニガヤルドを1日レンタルしました、保険料込み、走行距離制限無しで72000円という安さ！住まいが横須賀なので、よくある200km制限だと往復するだけでオーバーだったので非常に助かりました、それ以外にもスポーツ系の日本車が多数あるので、そっち系の車が好きな方はラインナップを見ているだけでも楽しめると思います！

total is showing JPY 26,340 on the website but am confused
now is this all ? is there any other payment later or in the shop?
and is there a hold on the credit card for security deposit??
FYI i included the CDW price and i don't know what it is but assuming its insurance of some kind
i would appreciated it if you can explain the whole payment experience and if there is any cash or CC money has to be on hold

I used google maps. With public transportation, it is quite a long way. It is a 20 minute walk from the closest train station. I ended up taking a cab back from the rental car company to the train, which was about a 5 minute drive and about $12USD.
