Enjoyed our stay! Our ADA room was very nice on the corner on the first floor with a nice roll-in shower and a jetted tub located outside of the bathroom. I had a separate bedroom with French doors for privacy. The enclosed patio was huge with two tables and chairs. My only complaint was it would be nice if they would update the living area furniture. It was uncomfortable and the same as the day it opened, when I visited then too! The bed though was comfortable. The breakfast items were on the lower quality. You might want to eat breakfast out. The staff were friendly and the room was very clean. Our granddaughter enjoyed the vacation and that’s what it’s all about:)

Check in isn't until 4 pm, kind of late compared to most. The process was pretty quick and the desk staff were friendly. The area set aside normally for breakfast is now being used to store extra stuff, like tables, chairs, etc. Unfortunately, being adjacent to the front desk, it seemed rather unsightly. The rest of the grounds, as well as the room itself, were clean and comfortable. There were lots of comfy seating areas on the first floor and lobby area. They also have a nice patio area on the Lake Superior side and this in luxed entry of tables and chairs along with a large firepit that, if not already on, the desk staff are happy to light for you. The walking path along the lake is under renovation, snow very attractive or practical for walking along, but that's not the fault of the Hotel and will be an attractive draw for the property once finished. The room itself had a nice fullsize sofa that was very roomy and comfortable for two adults. The room amenities included everything you'd really need, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, etc. Our room also had a very comfortable king sizes bed that allowed for a great night's restful sleep. Strangely enough, they seemed very proud of their Civid cleaning practices, which included having a TV remote that was made of solid surfaces that could be sanitized well. Then they took that "clean" remote and placed it in a cardboard holder that obviously could NOT be properly sanitized. Oh well. Otherwise, everywhere we went in the Hotel...grounds, room, breakfast area...all were clean and well-maintained. I would definitely stay here again.

All the other reviews say it all! These guys really know how to do the dreaded motel breakfast! They have five to six servers behind plexiglass that dish up what you want cafeteria style and its actually pretty good, even that yellow stuff that comes out of a 5 gal pail and called scrambled eggs! There seating is somewhat limited and you may have to take your breakfast to your room.
The rooms are clean, however, you can write your name on the bottom rungs of chairs. I believe this is due to the shortage of help since our government insists on paying people NOT to work! Also related to the staffing issue is that for a extended stay they will NOT clean your room daily. I have NO problem with this as we don't get fresh sheets or towels at home daily either.

We checked in for 3 nights, and did the usual Initial Here, Initial Here on the check- in form. We paid $199.00 a night not including the taxes. That night around 10:30pm were heard a loud gurgling noise in the wall between my bed and the bathroom. I called the front desk and she said it was probably because the room above us was running the shower or the tub. After about 45 minutes the noise stopped, then started up again for a short while. I was told she would tell the maintenance person about it in the morning. The following day we went out and returned to our room around 3pm and saw the room had not been cleaned. I called the front desk and was told they are not cleaning the rooms, replacing towels and other items because of covid. I was told I could get towels, cups, coffee, etc at the front desk. We went to the front desk and asked for towels, cups and coffee, and I told the person at the desk that we weren't aware of the no-clean policy. The manager heard us and pulled the sign-in sheet and put it in front of us, pointing to a set of initials. She asked if they were mine and I said they were. She rudely kept pointing at the initials saying that was where the policy was written. When we checked in all we were told was to initial regarding our vehicle and permission to charge the credit card on file. I asked her if anyone checked into the loud gurgling noise and she said she would let the maintenance person know (apparently she didn't because the noise was back that evening, though not as loud and for a shorter time). I told her I was told it was from the upstairs room running water and she said that was not possible. I asked what we should do with out dirty towels and she said to put them in the hallway. The following afternoon the towels were still on the floor, even though there was a linen cart 4 feet away, so we tossed the dirty towels in it. Along the hallway there were garbage bags that people had put out. Breakfast was to be eaten in the room overlooking the Lake, but I noticed after people left no one was sanitizing the tables, there was a tongs that was put out to toast bagels and that wasn't cleaned or sanitized after use. If the management is so concerned about covid I would think they would do a better job of sanitizing common areas. We paid $683 to stay in a room for 3 nights that had strange noises in the wall, no clean towels (unless we got them ourselves), no replenishing of coffee or cups and basically no service whatsoever. And no apology for the misunderstanding or the noise. We will not be back.

Just returned from 2-nite stay. Have stayed here several times before. Staff was great. Room was very clean, as usual, but this time noticed hotel entrance needed cleaning (dirty rug), elevator dirty, and sofas in back room where it is so nice to sit and relax w/view of lake were dirty and worn. Property could definitely use some TLC. We were disappointed in our “city view” room which actually was “pool roof” view. That room should NOT be the same rate as regular “city view.” Also disappointed to have no hot water during part of our stay (no shower!) though it was not fault of hotel - problem w/steam plant. Overall, our stay was much less enjoyable this time and we are not sure we will return when there are other comparable hotels on Canal Park.

This was a joy from start to finish. The staff was very accommodating and the facility is excellent. We had a room that was overlooking the Bay and it was very comfortable. The hotel has good parking and it still offers a full breakfast in very cautious manner. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Canal park lodge, it was in a great location to walk to all the shops and restaurants down in canal park area. The waterfront is under heavy construction... but I really enjoyed watching the big trucks bring humongous rocks to the waterfront and then the crane picked them out of the dump truck and placed them in a pile. The breakfast was limited to a cheese omelet, cheesy hash browns, bacon/sausage, yogurt/fruit, and a muffin. Coffee and juice too.
The hotel was clean and the staff was very nice and friendly. Pool/workout room were closed due to COVID.

I had a lakeside room on third floor at the beginning of November. I don't think the hotel was full so not sure about things like hall noise.
Lots of pros:
View
Location steps away from lake walk and can easily walk around the canal park area
easy parking
lots of in-room amenities like iron and ironing board, 10 detachable hangers, room safe, microwave, fridge, decent size closet, extra blankets, tub and shower
even if you don't do the lakeside view there is a big lobby and outdoor area to sit and enjoy.
Good breakfast included with hot and cold items and eggs didn't seem prefab
Room Very clean. I wipe everything down since covid made me aware of gunky germy stuff. The only area not so clean were the arms of the nice big sitting chair
Cons:
I'm very sensitive to noise, the air system always had a fan sound... coming from the bathroom. I closed the door and that helped some. Heating/AC very fan noisy. Some people think of it as white noise and don't mind.
No central light switch.
I will definitely go back in the future. I used to stay at the Radisson and Canal park lodge was a much better location for me, with easy parking, and a good breakfast included

Check-in isn't until 4:00, which is a little late compared to most. The process was pretty quick and the desk people were friendly. Given the times we are in, the breakfast area was closed to seating and unfortunately they were using it as storage area for various things-extra tables and chairs etc...looked like the family garage just before it gets cleaned out. The rest of the grounds, as well as the room itself, was clean and comfortable. They have a nice patio area behind the hotel, on the Lake Superior side, that has a very nice gas firepit along with plenty of tables and chairs. The walking path along the lake is under renovation, so not very attractive at the time we were there, but that's not the hotels fault. Gotta believe that once it's complete it will be a great addition to the property. The room had a nice full size sofa that could be sat on by 2 adults with plenty of room between to spare. Very comfortable. We didn't take advantage of the pool or the exercise amenities but they looked very nice. The room had everything we needed, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, hairdryer, etc. Very clean and quiet, giving us the opportunity to get a great night's rest. They made a big deal of the fact that the remote control was easily sanitized because of the solid surfaces it was made of, but then they place it in this well worn cardboard holder that completely defeats the purpose. Oh well. Other than that our stay was everything we were looking for while in Duluth.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful area of Duluth. Our room was perfect - clean, quiet, large, updated and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I appreciated the fact that we were notified a couple of times before our stay that there was construction on the boardwalk next to the lake and our view may be blocked due to the construction. (We had a lake view room and still had a nice view of the lake even with the construction.) I also appreciated the effort that went into allowing a warm breakfast to be served during Covid. I highly recommend eating the breakfast on the patio facing the lake. The hotel is located near plenty of restaurant options as well as several touristy stores and areas to visit. We will hopefully be back soon.
