About the Author

Danish-born Camilla Dallerup moved to England 18 years ago having had a long and successful career as a professional dancer before becoming a regular on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and winning the trophy in 2008. Since leaving the show, Camilla has appeared on GMTV, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and The Alan Titchmarsh Show as well as hosting shows such as Dance Factory. She starred for two years in the UK’s most successful theatre tour, Calendar Girls and has also headlined in annual pantomimes around the country. In 2009 Camilla qualified as a hypnotherapist and master practitioner in NLP; and for the last 11 years, alongside her media career (which has included working behind the scenes as the assistant choreographer on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013), she has been running her own coaching and corporate motivational speaking business. She writes a monthly column for Bodyfit Magazine and Soul and Spirit.

This tiny book packs a powerful punch within the realm of self-help books. Camilla Sacre-Dallerup's writing is approachable and comprehendible without being degrading or dismissive to the reader. So often, books of this nature will make the reader feel as if he/she has done something wrong to be in a position to need/want to change their lives and only the author can "save them."

Not so with Sacre-Dallerup, she has been where the reader is - realizing her life was not what she wanted and trying to figure out what to do and how to do it. She is a comrade in the reader's journey; telling her own story while explaining how to reinvent oneself even when there is no clue as to what is wanted - only the knowledge that change has to happen because what is currently in place no longer works and results in unhappiness.

Of course not everything Sacre-Dallerup presents is applicable to every reader, such is always the case with self-help books, but her approach is thoughtful and useful. A simple outline of the word "reinvent" is her road map and she takes these eight key points and weaves them into a guide for improvement. There is an extensive “Further Reading” list full of excellent recommendations by many outstanding writers. Reinvent Me is not overwhelming nor is it minuscule in nature - it is solid and insightful and definitely worth the time to read. Sacre-Dallerup offers a positive, inspirational and highly motivated viewpoint to an universal issue faced by everyone at some point in time during their lives.

Camilla presents a book which is not only easy to follow, but is a tried and tested method of how to make changes in your life. There's no ridiculous promises of fame and fortune like many other books in this genre offer. Instead, there is realistic and achievable ways to control our own destiny, our own lives, and how to reinvent those aspects which we don't enjoy.

Camilla shows real versatility in her writing style; a completely different approach than "Strictly Inspirational" but equally deserving of a coveted space on any bookshelf.

While considered a "self help" book this approach feels a lot more relevant and achievable than books that set unrealistic goals. Camilla helps you set your own objectives with reasonable suggestions of how to achieve them, without making anything feel impossible.

I would definitely recommend prefacing this with "Strictly Inspirational" if you have the opportunity. This autobiography from Camilla tells her journey in such a fluid way, and Reinvent Me is like a behind the scenes look at just how easy a change like this is to make, with the right determination.

Genuinely love this book! It is full of tools, thought provoking aspects that also feel friendly and nourishing. It is not preachy as some of these types of books can be. Instead it is like having a best friend that says - hey I am going to help you by showing you how but I have also got your back!

The way the book has been broken down also means it is easily manageable without experiencing overwhelm or wanting to quit before you have started. It also caters towards those that may be further on in their journey too as Camilla does not take anything for granted. One of my favourite sections is where it says "You may not, in fact be reinventing yourself, but actually uncovering the real you that was there all along". If you are looking for some fab tools, from someone who knows their stuff but you also want to feel as though you are supported. Then this is the process for you.

The content of the book is appealing and has some very good ideas, my only criticism would be that it should follow a YOU, WE, I formula. "I" personally do not like "how to improve" books full of what " I "did or how " I" felt. Picked my way through it, but did find it hard going. Having said that some good ideas came from it. It is unfortunate for many of us that while we might have the inclination, we do not have the means nor always the opportunity as responsibiliies takes over our lives.
