The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the operation of three jails within the county. The South Annex Jail built in 1947, the Main Jail built in 1989 and the North Annex Jail built in 1993. The total combined capacity of all open floors is currently 2,427 inmates.

To do an inmate search in Fresno County Jail, search the Fresno County Jail Inmate Search.

You can search by the inmate’s booking number or by the inmate’s first and last name. When you click on an inmate, you will see the following information:

Sending a Mail

All mail entering and leaving the Jail is opened and searched for contraband and the writing will be scanned for security issues. The only exception will be legal mail between an inmate and the inmate’s attorney.

When addressing correspondence to someone in Jail, you will need to address the envelope in the following manner:

Incoming mail must include the inmate’s Booking and Jail Identification (also referred to as "JID" or Person ID) numbers. These numbers MUST be included on the front of all envelopes or your mail will be returned. Ensure that all letters sent are addressed to the inmate’s name as it appears on their wristband.

Mail is picked up from the Post Office, opened, searched and delivered as soon as possible.  However, mail is not available for pick up or processing on weekends or holidays and there may be some delay in delivering mail due to the necessary time to process it properly.

Sending Money

In order to allow inmates continued access to the commissary during their incarceration, funds may be added to their accounts at any time.  Deposits may only be made to an inmate’s account via TouchPay in the following ways:

  • At the kiosks located in the Jail Lobbies.  Cash, VISA and MasterCard credit/debit cards are accepted.
  • Online at www.touchpaydirect.com
  • Toll-free phone at 1-866-232-1899.  [An active account log-in number is required.  To obtain one, individuals must first register either online at the TouchPay site, or by calling the customer service line at 1-866-204-1603.]

The Jail’s facility number (293721) and the inmate’s Booking number are required for online and telephonic deposits.

There is a convenience fee to use and fund the inmate’s account.  Fees are dependent on the amount of the transaction.

Phone Calls

Inmate telephone service is provided through Legacy Inmate Communications. All outgoing calls are collect or prepaid collect calls, except for calls to designated organizations, which are free of charge.

Inmates cannot receive incoming phone calls or messages.  In the event of an emergency, call the Watch Commander at (559) 600-8440 or contact the facility where the inmate is housed and ask to speak with a sergeant. He or she will determine if notification to the inmate is appropriate.

Visiting Rules

All inmates are allowed two 30-minute social visits per week. Inmates may request a single one-hour visit each week which may be granted at the discretion of the officer overseeing the visiting area.

Legal visits by an inmate's attorney are not limited or counted towards the personal visits.

The inmate’s minor children will be allowed to visit only when accompanied by an adult visitor. Children shall be kept under the control and supervision of the adult visitor at all times.

Only three visitors (including the inmate’s children) will be allowed to visit at one time.

  • Nothing is to be brought into the facility except ID and car keys.  
  • The following items are specifically prohibited: purses or bags; cameras, cell phones, and other wireless communication devices; food or beverages; pets; firearms, knives, or other weapons; drugs or alcohol; and cigarettes.
  • No sitting on the visiting table
  • No undressing or exposing body parts
  • No visiting with other inmates
  • No loud talking or any disruptive behavior

Hang up the phone and exit the visiting area when notified.
