Jase Butler
, the No. 97 overall recruit in the 2024 class, has requested his release out of his National Letter of Intent and de-committed from Illinois, a source tells 247Sports.

The 6-foot-4 guard out of Point Eyes Station (Calif.) The Branson School chose the Fighting Illini over other options including Stanford, UCSB and San Francisco amongst others back in early October.

In his high school season after his commitment, Butler has been one of the biggest stock-risers of the senior class climbing his way outside of the 247Sports Top150 up into the Top100.

He's a big bodied guard with an impressive skillset and feel for the game.

He's comfortable creating both for himself and others, a player who can score from all three levels, he excellent understand of how to use ball-screens and consistently makes the right play with the ball in his hands.

"I think I am a high IQ guard, I am big for the position," Butler described of his game to 247Sports in a past interview. "I can take advantages of mismatches, I can create for my teammates but I can also knock down open shots, I can get to my spots. Overall, I am a strong and cerebral player," he said of what he is bringing to the program."

Even though college basketball is in a state of getting old and staying old, Butler can help a team right away as a freshman and will have his fair share of suitors in the weeks ahead.

Butler is the fourth Top100 recruit to reopen his recruitment since early March, making for one of the top available players and guard in the senior class.
