Quadeca – Burnin Bridges / Long Day Lyrics | Genius Lyrics
[Part I: Burnin Bridges]

[Intro: Quadeca]
Feels like yesterday
You were just a face
Never thought to ask
Why I was bleeding on the way

Ayy
Ayy, ayy, ayy, ayy
Oh

[Chorus: Quadeca]
Okay, I'm fuckin' stressed
Come from the heart, that's why I be sayin' this shit with my fuckin' chest
I'm burnin' all my fuckin' bridges 'til there's nothin' left (Uh-huh)
The more they try to prove their worth, the more I'm unimpressed
I trust no one but myself, he the only one that hasn't fuckin' left

[Verse 1: Quadeca]
I'm a livin' anomaly, givin' you all of me, wanna be the villain? That's a simple philosophy, hold up
Suffocating, get your grimaces off of me, don't touch (Fragile)
Ain't no label on the box, ain't got a label, I just labeled me the boss
I ain't got no premium Snap (What?), but they still wanna pay me for my thoughts (Hahaha)
I just brought my own fuckin' seat to the table, they like, "Hey, are you saving me a spot?"
You'd be lucky if I gave you a response, bitch, I'm busy, so I basically forgot (Uh-huh)
'Cause I got to write a million tweets to really compete
Ironic, when you're livin' a dream, you can't afford a fuckin' minute of sleep
I think I count about a million sheep
I'll never be really complete even if I fill up an arena with a million seats

It's like ten or zero, some people talk, they like, "Ben a hero!"
Others refuse to acknowledge my music entirely, I call 'em Ben Shapiro
Uh, okay, now this is epic, you talkin' shit? That's a bit pathetic
I cut off all of my friends more easily than YouTube vloggers doing quick cut edits
[Chorus: Quadeca]
Okay, I'm fuckin' stressed
Come from the heart, that's why I be sayin' this shit with my fuckin' chest
I'm burnin' all my fuckin' bridges 'til there's nothin' left (Ha)
The more they try to prove their worth, the more I'm unimpressed
I trust no one but myself, he the only one that hasn't fuckin' left

[Verse 2: IDK]
Okay, I'm fuckin' stressed (Yeah)
All these hatin' niggas 'round, might need a fuckin' vest (A fuckin' vest)
I'm from where if you ain't movin' right, you might get fuckin' left (Fuckin' left)
And they copy what I do, might need a fuckin' check, cash flow
Niggas be sayin' the way that I move, I'm a asshole (A asshole)
She think she my girl, that make me laugh, ho (Hahaha)
Niggas be comin' with choppers, like "Boom, boom, boom", bad bone (Bad to the bone)
Made a couple million, yeah, that's facts, phone- click; hang up
They say I'm running out of hangers, say they want beef? I'ma bring the angus
Niggas want clout, fuck being famous, they tryna flex? I'ma be the trainer
Come where I'm from, make you give your chain up, you ain't tryna fuck? Tell her get her brain up
That ain't my girl, I ain't tryna claim her, if you in my way, better switch the lane up

[Chorus: Quadeca]
Okay, I'm fuckin' stressed
Come from the heart, that's why I be sayin' this shit with my fuckin' chest
I'm burnin' all my fuckin' bridges 'til there's nothin' left
The more they try to prove their worth, the more I'm unimpressed, uh-huh (Ooh!)
I trust no one but myself, he the only one that hasn't fuckin' left

[Outro: Quadeca]
I burn bridges, but I'm still payin' the toll for it (Woo-ooh!)
I burn bridges, but I'm still payin' the toll (Woo-woo!)

[Part II: Long Day]

[Intro: Quadeca & Chris Bonington]
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, uh
Climbing is quite enjoyable
If it wasn't as tiring, I would push right up the mountain
But in fact, it is making a hundred foot a day or so, you know
Which makes up something pathetic

[Verse 3: Quadeca]
Okay, I'm immune from the herd, like an anti-vaxxer (Ooh)
Usin' my words like a tantrum-haver (Huh?), I got used to the hurt from the random chatter
They viewin' the verse and get antsy after, no squares in my corner, like a cam reactor
Treat a hater like my wife; take 'em out to dinner, make a whole album about 'em like I'm Chance the Rapper, like, uh (Ayy!)
We need to make a comparison (Hmm), oh shit, that's embarrassin', oh
They said beware of the snakes in the grass, but I'd rather be wearing 'em, uh (Ayy)
Everyone knows if I say it, it's facts, this shit ain't no narrative (What?)
Go against me, and they play like they scared to win, eatin' the beat, I'm a fuckin' American, uh

[Chorus: Quadeca]
I'm like, "Ayy"
Let's be honest, I really had a long, long day
Okay, uh, I walked in like, "Bitch, what more can I say?"
Okay, what? Huh? What more can I say?
Still got the statements, stack 'em up, uh, you been in the way, bitch, back it up, uh
[Verse 4: Quadeca]
Practice what you preach, I guess that's why they talkin' trash, uh-huh, uh ("Uh-huh")
Now they wanna pose with me, like "Uh-uh, not so fast", uh-huh, uh ("Ayy, ayy, ayy, ayy, ayy-")
Your label be over me like, "Why we ain't thought of that? Huh"
Seeing me overseas off the grid, but I'm on the map (Okay, uh)
Just got the next statement, shit is out of line like David Luiz, uh (David Luiz)
So many Ben Franklins, only blue life that matters to me
Wholly new life, how it happened to me? No daps, now they actin' bougie
What you cook is from the cap, like you Ratatouille, absolutely mad, if you didn't like that, then sue me

[Chorus: Quadeca]
I'm like, "Ayy"
Let's be honest, I really had a long, long day
Okay, uh, I walked in like, "Bitch, what more can I say?"
Okay, what? What? What more can I say?
Still got the statements, stack 'em up, uh, you been in the way, bitch, back it up, uh

[Outro]
Uh...

The tenth track on Quadeca’s From Me To You, “Burnin Bridges / Long Day,” was originally given a sneak peek at the end of the music video for his September 2019 single “SCHOENBURG!” Fans of Quadeca tentatively named the snippet “FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY.”

It wasn’t until March 5th, 2021 when the track’s details were leaked through Shazam and it was revealed to feature an appearance from Maryland native rapper IDK, one of the only three features on the project.

I think I made it in like September of 2019 and then I just held onto that and I had it open for a verse and then I got the IDK feature and I honestly didn’t love how the IDK feature sounded on the original beat. Just ‘cause I listened to the song so much, it got kinda repetitive. So then I just fucked up the beat and found this beat coincidentally on YouTube from a producer that I really love called TRIPLESIXDELETE who’s super fire. And it matched the bpm and the key, it was like perfect, one of those godly moments. If you just surf YouTube beats enough, you’ll find it. Which is something I tried not to do for this album but like, for this style, I feel like those are the kind of songs you can actually find really cool stuff and then take those stems and play with them on your own. So that’s kind of what I did. I put that on there. I like synced a lot of the drums to the IDK verse. So I kind of like mapped that beat around that verse. Then I combined both beats for the outro part. Then I did the whole second Long Day part which was one of the later things that I made. So the song was made over a long long time where I just sort of had it. The intro was the snippet I had released and then I made like a new version of it. Because like a week before I was submitting the album, I thought ’‘Damn, the old version of this just on the end of SCHOENBERG, I like that way better. So then I went back to that version and made that one better. So I kind of met myself in the middle of the original version and the completely new version.

How did IDK's guest appearance come about?

I came into contact with him like 2015 when I saw a freestyle that he did. He probably had like 2,000 followers. And I sent him a DM like, ‘'Oh, this is so fire’‘ and somehow he knew about my mixtape but he didn’t really say anything about the music, he said more like ’‘If you ever need to use any music in your videos, feel free to use mine’‘. So then way later down the line, I had this “Burnin Bridgessong and I thought he would sound really cool on it. I sent him a DM, sent him the song, he listened to it. He said like ’‘I don’t really do features, but this is cool’‘ and he liked the flow on it. Yeah, I payed him for the feature, but it wasn’t one of those where it was just out of nowhere, like, he’d been aware of me and whatever. But, yeah, he did the verse. He’s been surprisingly very supportive. He’s like promoted the project on his own which he didn’t have to do. There was some guy saying ’‘This album is mid’‘ and he quote-tweeted it saying like, ’‘You don’t understand what it took to make that album, trust me.’‘ Which was really cool. Like, he had no obligation to do that so that’s really dope.
