Staypineapple, An Iconic Hotel, The Loop Chicago, garners commendation for its impeccable cleanliness, with some room for improvement in bathroom amenities. Its superb location is a highlight for guests, offering easy access to city attractions. While the hotel's historic allure infused with modern touches is a hit, particularly the pineapple-themed decor, opinions on value are mixed, with concerns about hidden fees. The staff's service receives applause despite occasional inconsistencies. Comfortable yet sometimes small rooms, along with extra amenity charges, are noted by visitors.

The hotel was beautiful. It was so nice when I saw online the blankets, towels, pillow, robes were for sale and saw the price o was like HA! No way I would pay that much. But I swear now I totally would I told my fiancé when we get a new house I’m definitely getting that whole set. That comforter and pillows made me feel like I was sleeping in a cloud. Best sleep I ever had. The robe felt amazing I almost took one like you know what if they charge me they charge me lol but I didn’t next time I’m definitely buying one. And the towels omg felt Devine so fluffy and thick I want some so bad. And the water pressure in the shower? Omg that was amazing made my shower at home feel pathetic. And the bathroom has shampoo, conditioner, body soap & lotion dispensers instead of the tiny bottles hotels usually have. And the pineapple toilet paper was a cute touch! The charging port thing was amazing me my fiancé and kids all had access to it. The view out the window omg so beautiful. The coffee Krueg thing was nice too! And the cookies they give you upon check in one those were delicious! They give free 10$ comp to get snacks. We didn’t get any but I asked for more cookies. Which were free. They have bikes you can use to ride around city for free! The elevators and outside the room was beautiful looked to vintage and elegant. The whole trip was amazing but I’m so glad we had this hotel to come to. And it’s literally walking distance from everything fun in Chicago!!!!

We love the Reliance Building! We have stayed there many times over the years (Burnham and now Alise/Staypineapple). The architecture of this property is amazing. We are so pleased that the Staypineapple company is continuing the preservation of the classic design of this building. The rooms are small but so well appointed. Actual keys for the doors instead of disposable cards. Keurigs with coffee and tea and FREE bottled water in the room. Amazing linens and towels.
Instead of tiny bottles with soap/shampoo/etc, they have wall dispensers (all hotels should do this!), and although the bathroom is small, it is well designed and the shower was great. Front desk staff were polite and helpful with fast check in and check out with cab waiting at curb as we left. Only negative was that the fitness room is tiny. Only two treadmills and an elliptical and a few weights. When I arrived at 7 am on a Tuesday, all was being used, so no workout for me. Love this place, though. It's our go to Chicago hotel.

Dear PamDon, Thank you for the lovely review! From the beautiful elevator bank to the hard metal keys for the rooms, we are delighted to hear that you enjoy the history of the Reliance building as much as we do. We are so glad to hear that you love the comy, cozy linens and also the mounted shampoo and conditioner dispensers, in order to elimate wasted plasic. We are happy that the staff was able to provide a speedy check-in, and we hope to see you stay with us again soon! Best, Sam Smith Front Desk Supervisor

The hotel is unique in the decor (inside and outside). Check in and check out were quick and easy and we actually received a key (unique looking one) instead of a key card. The room was smaller which is typical for downtown Chicago hotels. It was decorated nicely and had soft towels. The king size bed was on a platform and we kept bumping our legs on the edge of wood bed because the room was smaller and the platform stuck out. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the shower was really nice. They had free coffee and bottled water at all times and awesome tasting pineapple shaped sugar cookies in the afternoon. It is close to the live theaters, Macy's, AMC theater and close other great locations to visit in Chicago. Great stay and would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this property from December 27th-29th, 2019. There were 4 of us (two couples) sharing a room.

We checked in quite late after a long day of transit from Canada. Once we got into our room, there was a dog barking in the room next door. The occupants had clearly gone out for the evening and left their dog in their room. We tried to sleep, but the constant yapping was relentless.

After midnight, and near the end of my tether, I went down to the front desk to complain. I have no problem with a hotel accepting dogs, but you need to have a clear policy in place for when that dog is disrupting the experience of other guests. I asked the front desk to call the guests cellphone to let them know their dog was barking. They did not have a cellphone number for the guest in that room. How is this possible?. Is it not common sense if you're checking in with a pet to ask them upon checkin "may we please have an emergency contact number in the event there is an issue with your pet?".

I pleaded with "Del" to find another room, and he attempted to look but said there were no other rooms for 4 occupants. It seems it was beyond him to search perhaps for 2 rooms so that we could at least get a decent nights sleep and sort this out in the morning. It also appeared that on the overnight shift Del's wife, as well as a couple of other CTA employees like to congregate in the lobby for a chat and a good time. I realise the graveyard shift is boring, but this was very unprofessional when Del was trying to deal with an upset guest.

The following morning I had to call the guests in the room next door directly myself, and co-ordinate the time we would both be home that night to ensure the dogs barking wouldn't be an issue. No followup from the hotel, no attempt to sort the issue on my behalf. The best they could offer the following afternoon after I made a further complaint about the way this was handled was to remove the "resort fee". The same resort fee they charge for water and cookies, but that's a story for another day.

As I've mentioned, it's really lovely they accept dogs, and people can travel with their best friend. But they need to be more vigilant in ensuring that other guests are not impacted when a guest goes rogue and decided to leave the poor animal alone for hours on end. A phone number on hand would have been all they needed to remedy the situation.

Also, the "snack box" in our room that is offered for quite a princely sum was a full month out of date.

This whole experience is quite a shame, as the reason for choosing this property was their stellar reputation here on Trip Advisor.

Dear ToniSnell, Very sorry to hear that your stay with us was not up to standard. It is our normal practice to acquire a dog's owners contact information in the event we need to contact them. I will certainly review this with our team to ascertain where things went wrong and remedy these issues. I do hope that you will give us another try on your next visit to Chicago as this is definitely not typical of the great service we provide. Regards, Cole Mansfield General Manager

stayed here for 3 nights with high expectations based on the reviews and the hotel website. The check in process was smooth and there were hand sanitizers everywhere. There were 2 elevators, but 1 of them was out of order the entire stay so we ended up having to take the stairs many times as we got frustrated waiting. Our room seemed clean when we entered, but upon closer look I found a long curly hair on the sink faucet, and noticed more hairs on the counter as well as dust. I called the front desk around 4:30pm and they said they would send housekeeping. We left the room and came back around 830pm to find nothing had been done (either that or it had been cleaned poorly again). Finally, they sent someone after I made another phone call. In the age of covid, this was not acceptable. Plus, now we had a stranger in our room!
Because of the bathroom experience I decided to look under the sheets, and found brownish stains on our mattress. Now I was afraid to use the cute in-room mugs and the coffee machine. Who knows how clean they were?!
Although their website says face masks were required for all guests and staff in public areas, we saw none of this enforced. I even saw the housekeeping lady with her cart on our floor maskless when I exchanged some towels with her.
I did appreciate the free bottled waters, and the cute bathrobes (which i did not touch).
Overall, based on this experience I could not recommend this hotel esp when there are so many options around here. The location was great, staff was nice, but this hotel could use many improvements starting with proper cleaning/housekeeping and enforcing covid safety measures it advertises (and new mattresses, bigger sink, working elevators etc)

2021-May: I arrived to this hotel at around 11am on a Saturday.

Came through a double door towards the front desk. Staff was pleasant and professional. Our room was not ready but they were able to store and lock our luggage. The hotel has regular bicycles for customers.

Elevators were... ummm... nostalgic?lol. But works efficiently.

The room key is an actual key with a keychain, lol.

The room was clean. Small, but decent. A bed, a night stand in one side, a desk on the other side. Lamp on each side. Two chairs, mini fridge, coffee maker, full size mirror. Desk has usb and outlet plugs.

Bed is comfortable. 2 comforters were on top of the bed.

Bathroom was clean. Lots of counter space around the single-sink in the bathroom. 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 2 face towels, and a hair dryer were available. Hotel toiletries were installed permanently on the walls of the bathroom. Shower has decent pressure.

TV has HDMI hookups for my fire stick.

2 complimentary water bottles were provided.

The facility requires everyone wears masks outside their room.

There was no pool.

If you think this review helped you in any way, please give it a thumbs up!

Hope you have a great vacation!

First I want to thank the staff for a pleasant stay. Everyone was polite and courteous. The only two frustrations experienced was dealing with valet at the beginning of our stay. The valet crew was overwhelmed due to short-staffing. The other frustration was only one working elevator during our stay. This slowed down everyone's ability to reach their rooms during busy times.

Beyond that, the room was surprisingly spacious, the bed was comfortable and everything worked in fine order. Our room had a view that overlooked the intersection of State and Washington and we can make out a bit of Lake Michigan from our hotel room.

Oh, yeah this hotel is dog friendly. Many guests had their pups with them on leash. They even sell plush stuffed dog toy that barks when you squeeze it. We bought one.

Our family of three did not feel cramped which is a feeling we sometimes have in other hotels located in the loop.

Housekeeping is attentive to your needs when called. Bottled water and coffee are complimentary.

From this location you can walk to the Art Institute, Macy's, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Theatre District. Christkindlmarket is down the block, and Maggie Daley Park is a few blocks away.

We will definitely choose Staypineapple again.

It started off well then quickly turned into the worst hotel stay I have ever had. I arrived early to check in at 10:30am and to my surprise they had a room available, of course they did it was a room with a brick wall as my “view” I didn’t complain I was grateful I guess to have a room that early. lighting way horrible small lamps that barley light up the room. They only have one working elevator so the wait is long every time and full elevator. The toilet didn’t work the next day, I told the front desk to please fix it during the day while I was out of the room, I came back to the same issue that evening. I told them I will checkout if I don’t not have a working toilet that is an essential part of renting a room. They fixed it within an hour. Next day (day 3) I ask to have my room cleaned, replace bedsheets, take out trash etc. Nothing was done and I checked out early day 4, they charged me $15 per day for their “snack bar” unless you like a lot of candy it’s pointless and wifi which is free in other hotels, plus city and state taxes totaling $70 more than what I already payed for 4 nights. Horrible experience I blame it on the front desk.

We really enjoyed our three night stay at the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful with advice on where to eat, transportation, getting us snacks, and an appreciated umbrella for some very rainy days! We had two comfortable queen beds with cozy bedding. The rooms are a decent size but not large. We had enough room for all of our belongings and the view was great from the 11th floor. The location is walking distance to so many Chicago landmarks and right around the corner from several train stations. Easy to take the Blue Line from the airport almost right to the hotel. The hotel was clean and had a somewhat unique and interesting design with quick elevators and a neat spiral stairway to some of the floors. Housecleaning did a great job with our room every day. Covid precautions were observed and they did give us a choice as to whether we wanted housecleaning or not. We had a great visit!

All the staff was friendly and professional. Great location, close to shopping, many sites in walking distance and a CTA bus stop right across the to take you places outside the Loop.
The building inside has a good balance of being up to date while maintaining it’s original look.
Great restaurant. The messages on some of the plates are funny. Definitely try the pineapple whip. When I travel to other places and eat at the hotel/resort on my own, I’ve encountered an attitude that I’m putting them out. At no time did I experience that attitude when I ate at the Atwood.
Really like the amenities. Free wi-fi, the streaming, bottle water (very nice when the weather gets hot) and I can’t forget about the cookies!
The room was clean, tidy and up to date. The signature pillow was adorable! The bed was quite comfortable.
The soap and such dispensers are mounted on the wall leaving the bathroom vanity uncluttered.

Dogs don't stay for free but look at the room packages when you see booking. They have a "pup" package that will give you 50% off the pet fee. Their packages can save you a lot of money. Enjoy your stay. We loved the hotel in Chicago.
